View Full Version : Bird Flu - *UPDATE* It has hit England

As I was watching the news I found something of my horror, what I had dreaded for weeks...
Bird Flu has hit England.
A parrot had it. So what will happen next? Only around 60 people have died in all the places Bird Flu has hit so it might not affect us that much but it could. So good luck in surviving! :eusa_pray

They did mention that the case occured whilst the parrot was in quarantine, and all the other birds in the same flock are being culled. It's not exactly out in the open for you to catch the minute you open your front door.

Well I know that but it could spread if they let a bird go without knowing ect ect

Right, so bird flu is deadly. What are we going to do about it? Lock ourselves in houses and only use the underground trains to get around. Make underground cities? * Sigh * I don't know... only 60 people have died though.

if the virus mutates so ppl can catch from ppl

1 in 4 ppl get bird flu

2% that get it will die

adults and pensions are more likely to catch the virus

Yes but not to different parts of the UK. They will go somewhere where it is alot warmer.

If you think about it when the birds migrate and just 1 of them has the flu then they will spred it over a wide area and the results will be devaststing

It depends on who the virus spreads, different viruses have different effects due to temperature, vunerable cells, down to chromosomes.

I take it pointing out the UK on the Atlas would be a bit of a tricky thing to do, considering we're at the northen half of the globe.

I think it would take a maximum of a year, the Earth is large, but birds can fly far in a day ;)
