Me and my mates; Becky, Martin, Scott, Matt, Nikki, Ste, Holly and Ayesha, always used to go to a firework display on 5th November, this year we decided to give it a miss and go to another one because we seemed like a change but we boy were we wrong…
On the 4th November in the year of the Monkey, my mates and I were deciding which firework display we should go to, we could go to the one we always went to since we were the age of 5 (we are now 14) or to go to a new one that had never been before. We decided to break the tradition and go to this new display.
The next day went quick and we were all extremely excited about going tonight, so after a day at school we went home and made a decision to meet up at the near by park at 5 o’clock. Time went quickly as usual and we met up and walked up to where the display was being held, we arrived there at around half five, it didn’t cost much to get in so we had more money for the attractions.
“ Kool! My fave radio station is here!” shouted Becky.
“Cah’mon lets go on erm… that erm… one that goes up and down and around…” says Martin.
“O’yea I love that ride.. its one of my fave!” Ste exclaimed.
“Laura according to you every ride is one of your faves.” Laughs Scott.
“HaHa. Well this one is ACTUALLY one of my faves.. Thank you Scott” Ste replied.
“What ever you two… Does it matter what we go on first we have enough money for all the rides” exclaimed Ayesha.
“Ooooh what’s up with you miss moody?” Sarcastically asked Holly.
“Nothing! Why should there be?” snapped Ayesha.
“Ok! You two stop arguing!” I shouted.
They all carried on looking around, they found a few good rides to go on… and everyone they went one Ste always said the same, I love that ride.. Its one of my faves!
At 8 o’clock they announced that the fireworks were going off in 15 minutes. The lot of us walked over to where it was going to be shown. We got as close as we could… from a little bit of pushing. We only get to the front because tall adults get in our way with those little scruffy dogs that sometimes cant find a place to do its business so they do it in front of you our actually sometimes on you.
The time came. The time that we had all been waiting for since we decided where to go. We were actually at the front by the rope going across so you couldn’t cross over near the fireworks. This is where it went wrong.
Bang! The first of many fireworks went up, it lit the sky in a magenta colour, and all you could here in the background was children go Ohhhhh, Ahhhhh and WOW. Even we were amazed at this display. In a big oblong there were 20-30 Catherine Wheels go off. And in the centre there were the ones that fizz but these were bright and went high in the air so everyone could see them. The sky was lit up, I suspect if you lived miles away from it you could see the sky with the colours of; pink, yellow, green, blue, purple, red, and many different colours. After about 10 minutes of watching the smallest fireworks go off, it was time for the rockets. They were most of the viewer’s favourites. These rockets were the best I had ever seen. The first one went up BANG! It went it was a florescent green then it turned into the crackling sound. The first 5 that went up were different colours and the all crackled. After that it was more magical because there were about 3 and more going up at the same time, but they were all different, in height and features, like some were short but amazing, and there were some tall and not so amazing.
We heard an announcement saying, “Here we go the one that we saved till last the incredible one.” We all looked at each other in shock and turned back around to view it. We all then saw something light come towards us but we didn’t think much of it as it was about 50 metres away from us then all we heard was screams we turned around and noticed this ‘Incredible’ firework was coming straight for us. We all moved accept from Holly as she was on her phone to her boyfriend.
“HOLLY! MOVE!” We all shouted. She turned, but someone risked his or her life and jumped out the way to move her, BANG the firework went off but the explosion wasn’t that big, she was on the ground, she got helped up by Ayesha and Holly looked puzzled but was shocked. She never knew who this mysterious person was, she went over and noticed that it was a male and went to their school.
“Oh My God! I know him! He’s in my Media class!” Holly cried out.
Everyone else crowded around with this boy on the floor not moving, he looked like a whale that had been brushed up on shore. Not moving just a few grunts and moans. In the distance we could here an ambulance come in the near distance. It came as close as it could. The ambulance people carried this lad away and took Holly in the ambulance to be checked out at Hospital.
“God… never expected that too happen today..” I Said.
“Nor me” everyone else muttered.
The girls walked home wondering if Holly and the lad were ok. Scott’s phone rang. He Answered.
“Hello? Oh my god. Are you ok? How’s the lad?” Shouted Scott down the phone.
He put the phone down to tell us all some news. He started speaking.
“Holly’s ok and she’s allowed out but the firework skimmed across the lads body and has burnt him. But he should be out within a week. So don’t worry he should be ok”
Everyone sighed with relief.
“Thank god there both ok” I said.
A week after the incident the lad came back to school, with a few of scars, but a lot more mates.
