Hello, I have a question, I have a combat level 40 mage with 50 magic and was told that ranging does not make my combat level go up any. Is this true?

Range hardly effects combat. And i mean hardly effects it.
Where you may need 4 melee stats for a combat level, youl need maybe 10 range levels for 1 combat level. So id say go for it

Is ranging expensive?

Not really. If youve done plague city and biohazard you can get bronze arrows 1 gp ea.

I have a level 70 ranged 55 magic 50 attack 48 strength account and its level 48 combat... Basically as long as range/mage is higher than the other, the other wont effect combat until it becomes higher than the other. :confused_

Sqaz

So what you're saying is only one will effect my combat, whichever one is higher? Can anyone else verify this? If so thank you for your help Arrow.

That's me. I'm 80 range, but I foolishly got 10 defence when I started the account, then the other day got 11 by accident, put my combat up. I'm now 59 combat. :'( The lowest combat you can be with 70 range, unless you use a cannon, is 48. If your magic or melee stats are higher than your range, it won't put your combat up, it works the same way around. If you have high range, your attack, strength and magic don't put your combat up. Defence and prayer will. If you plan on making a pure ranger, just get range up, not defence or prayer, nor mage, attack and strength until you are 70 range if you want the best results. Most people make their character a hybrid after getting 40 range, but if you wait you can get your strength much higher, giving you an advantage.

my mage has 30 defence I think and only defence, I will not be raising strengh attack or prayer. I have a level 15 I think guy with pure strength and I think has some attack but no defence, should he be the one I train mage?
Question, when traing range you work on strength not defence?
Question, Just for my 100% assurance. my mage pure defence and magic, level 50 magic, if I get 49 range, just keeping defence my combat wont raise at all correct?

Range:

Won't get your combat level up as long as you had Attack and Strength Levels

Pure Rangers could get to 70 range and be able to train to 40-60 In Strength or Attack

if you wern't a Pure Ranger

Say you had

50 Str
50 Atk you could train up to 1.5 of both levels so you could be 70 range? or So I'm not that good at Maths ;)

So I should use my account 5i? the account that was going to be a pure pker before I discovered magic.. he has no defence only attack and strength.. He's only around level 15 I think, didn't realy bother with him after all my mage fun..

So I should use my pure pker, only stats training are strenth and attack. Do they both need to be raised to prevent leveling up from range?

Use a calculator

www.rsbandb.com (http://www.rsbandb.com)

go on calculators then combat, enter your stats and it tells u how many lvls of each thing it will take to give u a combat lvl

That has nothing to do with what I'm trying to do. Should I pure my pure mage or pure pker to use range? as long as my attack and strenth are higher then my range my combat level wont advance, correct?

See when I attack, my defence goes up causing me to advance a level. Does my defence not go up when I'm using range?

Rizla

Your defence won't go up when you use range, as long as you don't use longrange.

So from the information I've listed, 50 magic 30 defence 0 attack, 0 strength (gibe), or 19 strength, 14 attack, 0 defence (5i), which one should I train range with?

Sqaz
06-11-2005, 11:49 PM
I think I get it, I'll train 5i the one who was going to be my pker into a ranger using the first and second attacks.
