A girl recently died playing World of Warcraft for several days non stop.
Dont know if you heard about this? They held a virtual funeral for her on the game she died on, there where hundreds of people there.
Well, i know some people that have been so obsessed with Habbo they stayed on it for like 2 days, i myself have stayed on it all night, no sleep. When i was totally obsessed. I felt like i was going to die (not actually die, but felt like ****). With the way some people are addicted to Habbo i recon its not impossible for this to happen with Habbo.

Its one of many gaming related deaths.

It's rare something like this happens but when it does it's shocking...

My friend has told me stories of addicts who have died from stress and what not. I don't see how people can be so addicted to games. Surely a family member should've stopped her. Family members should certainly lessen the amount of time their children spend on the computer.

I couldn't get onto the second page which is the report in full so tell me if anything I've said couldn't have been done.

For anyone saying this is a pointless thread, I think it's interesting and can put a powerful message across.

Perhaps, one of the stories I've read about was a 51 year old man which is similar to this story. So she probably didn't live with anyone else.

Oh dear. :l The middle aged man was from Counter Strike apparently. Games on the internet or console can have a massive effect on people. You cannot really call them stupid for their addictions, it's just like people who smoke, it's very hard to give up. Games can effect people in ways of which young children are influenced to copy violent games.

It's strange how gaming can play such a huge role in someones life.

This is a tragic story, and it's one that I'm sure politicians will pick up on and use to get video games banned. Video games didn't cause the girls death, stupidity did. On the other post of this on another forum, most people were suggesting that a games disconnect you after a few hours and won't let you on for another hour, which is a good idea.

I think it is a good idea to disconnect people after a few hours of playing a game, it messes you up, it will help prevent head aches and other stuff linked to them.

it is true that u can die from being on a computer for a long time without leaving the chair, cos if u sit in one position for too long (long as in days) u get deep vein frombosis (same as wat u get on a plane) a boy died from that a year ago cos he was on a computer for 3 days without even gettin out of his chair or nothin. thats y ppl tell u to have a min 10 min break for every hour being on a computer it helps prevent it.

Some compassionate people do care if someone they didn't know dies, when the tsunami happened I cried watching the news, I didn't know any of them, but it's the fact that you feel sympathy and maybe respect for them that makes you care, not everyone has the same sensitivity as you.

Sorry if i seem uncompasionate but like someone says... im compasionate towards people i know and love. Dont get me wrong, it upsets me to here about a death... but i didnt know her so i dnt really feel any major emotion :S. Now people dying in the tsunamy i felt for... people who die of poverty i feel for... people who are murdered i feel for, people who die from natural disasters... i feel for.. but dumb people who bring it on themselves? i just dnt see why she shd get so much publicity over being stupid
