I need help from guitarists/bassists

Hey guys.

I really need help.
In alot of my favourite songs i've seen the signs p and h inbetween notes.
I learnt that they mean pull off and hammer on but do any of you know how you do these? If there is a step by step guide of it somewhere that would be useful, i checked my tuition dvd and that had nothing on it which kinda sùcked.

meh... it's one of those things that I can't really describe but could show you in real life. The best I can describe it as is

a pull-off... push the note down and then quickly pull your finger off as you hit the string

hammer-on... just the opposite, quickly after you hit the note play the one beside it

nah... slapping you're doing with your strumming hand... hammers and pulls you're doing with your fingering/fretting hand.
