Cats are very supersticious animals and can apparently sense presents, they stand on all fours with a curved back and erect bushy tail, so unless your cat does that i wouldnt worry.

Its a possibility that your cat may have been injured and is alert because of this, I know you said you have just taken it for a check up but it could have happened the night you brang her back or afterwards possibly. If she allows you to come near her gently stroke her by her tail or below her ear which makes cats relax, and then examine her body to check for cuts and nips etc..

If she hides under the bed and cowers away she might feel scared or threatened by something making her want to go outside away from it, have you recently bought any new animals that she may feel threatened by?

She seems to be behaving similar to the way one of my cats did, in this instance i would say to you to approach her when shes settled under your bed or wherever and stroke her using treats as a reward for her calm stance, she may learn to relax again :]

I hope ive helped, and if not try typing your cats problem on google and seeing what results come up..

by the way, the only reason i know this stuff is because my mum and aunty have a cattery and i work there so im cat-mad xD

She actually might be on her heat, or pregnent...

As I'm working in a pet shop, I should hopefully be able to help..

Your cat is obviously scared, or having a reaction to a previous product (food or drink). Have you recently switched to a different pet food for your cat? If not, check previous tins/pouches for the useby/sellby date. If not either, perhaps the water you have been giving to your cat has changed in a way. Have the water board recently been doing maintenance? This could also be down to the milk (if any) you give to your cat.

If none of the above, has anything recently been happening at your house? Something on the lines of Parties, Loud music, Fireworks, Shouting, Roadworks, etc? Often pets are worried for a short time after events which contain loud noises or bright, flashing lights. If this is the case, I reccomend you purchase some tablets which calm your pet down. These aren't exactly cheap, at around £4-00, but it's worth a try to calm your pet down, as these are a popular seller around Fireworks night, etc.

If that is not the case, Then this may be your problem. This section only applies if your cat is not a house cat, which means it does not go outside. Maybe someone has tried to attack or kidnap your cat without your knowledge. This can often traumatise the pet or make it paranoid. Another problem is perhaps your cat has been involved in an accident involving a vehicle (bike, car, etc). Check to see if your cat has any sore parts or if it is limping.

Another solution would be the fact your cat is going through heat, having her period or even pregnant.

If any of that has not helped, I reccomend you take your cat for another check up with the vet, or if the vet cannot help, I suggest you see an animal psychologist.

Hope that's helped ;) - And hope your cat gets better soon.
-Adam
