Hi guys, im in a bit of an orquad situation in real life at the moment and I'm just looking for some advise really.

Well at my job I feel like I'm picked on because of my age. I'm 17 and most of the people I work with in my department are over 25. I hate my manager because she always gets on my back about every little thing.

I've allready been verbally warned at work for taking a bit longer on my break then I should have, and I'm now facing a written warning, and all I did was buy a drink and stood around talking to one of my mates for five minutes or so when I should have been working. Yet many other of my colleages have done this before and all they got was a slap on the wrist, yet I'm facing disaplinery action?!

It does my head in. I think it's because I'm young, they look at me as if to say "oh he's young, he's a trouble maker" bla bla just because a few of my mates come to where I work to see me and swear bla bla.

I really wana' quit this job so badly, but I don't have another one set up yet.

What would you guys do if in my position? Would you quit and then find another job? Or what? *shrugs*

Don't get me wrong I've got loads of people there I do get on with, but they're the peeps my age. Adults are so dam ignorant and pathetic... they're worse then us youngsters!

Is that a full time job?
Well if I was you I would keep on doing the job unless I have found a job with a better wages or something...
Maybe the adults are training the young workers to work hard ;)
Try and do as well as you can with the job like impressing them
How long have you been working there?

Yes it's a full time job and I've been working there since July 2004.

Hope you have good relationships with the colleagues :)
Just work hard and one day it will change or if it's a bit too much complaint or quit but that won't be a good idea keep cool ;)

I try to keep my cool, really I do. But not only do most get on my nerves for telling me what to do all the time, they get on my nerves the way they constantly kiss up to the manager. I don't see why they do though? It's not as if they're gona' get a promotion for backside kissing. Bah!

I think that might be another reason why my Manager nags me and gets on my case so much, because I'm the ONLY, and I stress, ONLY person who doesn't kiss her backside when she walks in the room and I tell her how it is, regardless of wether she agrees or not. I really couldn't give a bobba what she thinks to be honest. lolatme. :(

I would say quit. I mean you're 17 anyway it isn't the only source of income that's keeping you alive. But as soon as you quit, make the want ads your friends ;)

Hmm I really do want to quit, because I want to say "Do you know what? You made me working life hell, always picking on me, always harassing on me, so SCA-REWWWW YOU!" lmao.

But I will miss the peeps I do get on with well.

But if I do quit, I won't be able to pay my phone contract, my internet bill, and I won't be able to afford the car I'm getting in January. :(

Tell the damn manager and seem angry, if ur fired its really for your own good.

Well if I was you I wouldn't quit untill i had another job lined up. So get looking. Atleast you have some experience now. Im looking for my first proper job and it's hell. I don't have any qualifications. Meh back to you, Yer, get job hunting! But remember, throughout life your always going to have to work with people you don't get on with. It's hard but you just have to grit your teeth and bare it.
Do not blow off on the manager, If you get fired then that will stay on your Cv and it will be harder to get another job. You may need a reference from this job in the future. Keep your friends close and your enemys closer!

Bef gave some pretty sound advice just then, and i totally agree with her. Job hunting is a nightmare, and if you quit this job you might be forced to take whatever boring jobs are on offer, whereas if you keep your current job a bit longer, you'll have more time to find a better job that you'd enjoy more. Keep thinking about that gorgeous car you wanna buy, hell even put a picture of it on your desk to cheer yourself up when your boss is being a pain in the you know what. I hope you find something that takes your interest soon :-)

I don't have that problem. I'm the youngest where I work but I get on well with my colleagues. My Uncle's the owner of the business and pops in regularly, and the manager is kind too. ^_^

I'm only 14, but I enjoy working there. ;D
