View Full Version : Xbox 360 released in Europe

Pathetically, Microsoft shipped just 300 000 consoles for the release of the Xbox 360 console. I expect this didn't even cover pre-orders, (and many people have been getting emails from GAME saying just that, although they can choose to pay £635 for a special bundle) but did anyone here manage to get their hands on one?
If so, what's your verdict on the hottest new gaming platform on the market? Overrated? Worth every penny?

I've seen a set up of it in GAME and it doesn't look too bad. However, definatley not worth £620, that almost doubled the expected price. I can't imagine what the situations going to be like when Sony release the PS3, hopefully they'll choose to ship more.
Anywho, I'll wait, theres no way your going to get your hands on one for ages, people on ebay are making fortunes from the Xbox 360 premium.

£635?! For a special pack? What does it include, it better be worth it for the people buying it.

I have no idea what's with it. Considering the games are about £45, I assume it's just a £280 console plus 8 games.

I'm trying to get one from ebay, for about £280 for the core pack [RRP £220] but when they get to about 30Mins left the price shoots up to about £350.. 360 is far better than normal xbox

I don't see the point of buying one at this moment? Its hype, alot of rushing about and spending more money for a console which was originally retailed at £220-£280 RRP.

Obviously :p. That's what usually tends to happen on Ebay, theres a great rush at the end of an auction.

Shows how needy people get. :p
My mum said that this guy she knows pre-ordered the console and one game. But when he went to collect it they said he had to pay an extra £200 for the other games. That special £635 package, even though he didnt order that.
Well, that's what she said.

Yeah stuff like that's been happening a lot. A friend of mine paid a £20 deposit and was told that if he didn't go and pick it up before 12pm GAME would sell it.
Thankfully he's not one to be messed about and knows his rights; a pre-order is a legally binding contract, so the company have to give you what you ordered.

Haha in America you can put a deposit where you can have them hold a game/console and keep adding to the deposit for them holding the game/console. And fromw hat you add you subtract.
So I have an Idea for PS3 I'll keep adding and have my 10% membership and when they have a sale.... Woo...

So hard to get, looks great though, I played Call of Duty 2 and King Kong for it in GAME, and the graphics are quality.

Whats not so great about it? I think its a great looking console, from what I've seen of it in GAME, it looks pretty good.
I don't think its a waste of money, the console pays for itself after you play the games already released for it.
I guess you'll stick with your Nintendo? ;)

Does anyone know how much Microsoft are going to lose on this console? I read somewhere that they'll have to sell millions (or whatever) to make a profit.

I would think it is more than just some 'millions' They'll sell at least 1-2 million in Britain alone.. Then in america they'll sell loads :p and everywere else..

On the Xbox they were losing $126 on every console sold, I've heard it's a pretty similar price for 360's, hence why selling more consoles will only lose you more money. It's millions of games that they'll have to sell to get profit :P
My local ASDA said they'd only had 12 Xbox 360s delivered... Pretty poor if you ask me.

First point yeh youre exactly right, each console they lost like $200-$300
They try to get as much consoles out there as they can, then get a profit off accesories and games.
And secondly, if you actually have an x360 youre stupid, you can wait half a year and get a much better console. Its overly priced, the memory you will never use, and youre paying for nothing. It has no brilliant things about it.
The internet thing is the best thing it has whereas the revo brings a whole new world to gaming.

But not everyone is into the gameplay or the Revolution. Its just fancy graphics and as many accessories (Dvd player, mp3..etc) they can pack into the console is what the gamers are after.

Thats just stupid, i would rather play a game you laugh at and really pass time with instead of getting a bona over graphics. And maybe its just me but i already have a dvd player, and i dont come from the richest family.

You can't call people stupid for wanting a console. I love my Xbox, and I hope to get one sometime. I probably will wait a while; I'm sure it won't be too long before they come down to about £200 for a premium package. What is stupid is people buying them for £600 from eBay.
As with the Revolution; I'd love to get one, but I'd also wait a while for them to come down from a bit from their launch RRP.

Yeah, the price of the Revolution. Going to be less than the PS3 and Xbox360. So it won't be that expensive. I'll get one if the price isn't too ludacris.

Yeah but to be less than the PS3 and 360, that means it only has to be less than £219.99.

I havn't been very fond of Nintendo's consoles, if I was to buy the revolution, I'd probably only buy a few games like I did with my Cube.
But for me, the Xbox 360 is the one for me, Call of Duty 2 looks amazing, hopefully, I'll get it sometime close in the beginning of next year.

Microsoft said stocks are being replenished all the time. It's just because there are so many pre-orders that people can't find them.
They should be on shelves again by mid-January. Yay :D

Xbox 360 isn't at all good, nicknames like 'scratch box' have been given to it, I heard you can't play the original xbox games on it, so why waste like £280 on it?
The games are like £40, my mate got one and 3 games for it all the games are on xbox for £30 but he paid £45 each for them, I think it's a rip of atm, in a few months when the games drop in price and their is more of them maybe worth it but right now it stinks

Why the need to get agressive? o.0
Firstly, the PSP is a handheld and the Xbox 360 a home console. You can't compare two totally different things.
Secondly, you can play some Xbox games on the 360 but not all; the 360 uses a completely different graphics chip so games need to have individual emulation codes to work, and that takes time.
About the games being a rip-off, you're probably right. The only games worth the £45 are the 3 exclusive titles (Kameo, PGR3 and PDZ) - the rest are just ports (or near-ports) of current gen games and aren't worth buying.
