k i have avatars that are saved as .bmp files, and when i try to put them as my avatar it says "this is not a valid image file"

.bmp is a file type that uses huge ammount of space, which causes a lot of bandwidth, so we don't allow any .bmp files. You can simply say any image that is in .bmp format as .gif / .jpg / .png (probably the best format).
