I noticed something about Christmas this year that I never really thought of before, dont get offended.
The Christmas tree is the stupidest holiday tradition ever. Who was the first person ever to say "Hey, in celebration of christmas, lets bring a tree inside and decorate it with balls on hooks and lights, then we can throw it out on new year's eve."?

Wasn't this talked about on a show yesterday? I forget what one, but yeah, I agree.

Haha, yeah, we have a plastic one too. (Fake Plastic Trees, I love that song by radiohead). Our 4 cats would go insane if it was real.

It's the Christian idea that the evergreen tree represents renewal of life. It spread from ancient beginnings of Christian philosophy to Germanic tribes to the Middle Ages to, eventually, modern times.
Many royal families would use it and the Christmas tree tradition spread from high-class people to all sorts of socioeconomic classes. Interesting, no?

Christmas leaves too much mess on the carpet anyway. =]
I like the whole idea of kids having fun and such by putting presents under it. I don't do it, never have, But you see some people with massive trees.

Some Christians are even against the use of Christmas trees because they claim it represents "pagan ideas". Heh.

Well 1000s of "renewals of life" are burned down every year:rolleyes:
I guess that makes sense, dont get offended by me saying, its just that if you didnt grow up with this tradition, but then you just learned of it, it sounds crazy. "We are going to put a tree in our living room?!"
