Designing a layout..

Ok I've decided to start designing a layout for my site, and its starting to annoy me.
I don't want it to modern or flashy.
I did this quickly, any ideas for what I can add to it?

Both, but i presume it ill be expandable in height, but it dfinatly needs to be wider

How about us with unreasonably large screen resolutions

Just because they have a big resolution doesn't mean they can't see the website, where as if I made it large people with smaller resolutions can't.
If you've got a large resolution and the text is to small on most websites, they your screen is to small for the resolution and you should change it.
The website will be expanding in height, so height isn't an issue at the moment.
