Do you have the normal windows Xp skin or something different. I have a skin called blade which is from styleXp. Its black with gold writing. Very Cool.

get the theme you want, save it, unzip it, find the file with the paint brush on it, right click, open with..., top choice then it will come up in your appearence so just say ok
