No im not layered tech doesnt even offer unlimited servers (this is where Lucidnet.com server/s is from) Ok so if the server runs out of diskspace does it sprint to pcworld and get its self a new HD/TD

Dale
30-12-2005, 05:06 PM
Nah, Servers cant sprint. The owner does ;)

DMB-Hosting
30-12-2005, 05:07 PM
You dont even have access yourself to replace/add the hd/TD if it overloads

I was selling a reseller a few days ago which was claimed to be unmetered - i decided to get rid of it because i want reliable services to give to my customers, i fell if im giving out people ''unmetered'' hosting then im not giving them the services they deserver as they may go down at anytime. Someone else may of wanted the reseller for a few of there own site etc i dont know but i wasnt goig to risk it

6. How can you offer an "unlimited" account? Is it really unlimited?
Unlimited Accounts are indeed unlimited. These accounts may not to be used to host a collection of MP3's, Warez, or to backup your computer or another source. They may not be used for general storage of any type. All content stored on an unlimited account must be directly used on the Internet by the website associated with that account. These accounts may not be used as a download distribution point for your software or media. They are to be used for standard web practices only. This means that all content stored on an unlimited account must be used for “normal” website use. “Un-normal” usage is anything that a shared server would not be able to provide under standard circumstances. If your account requires resources that are not able to be provided by a shared server, we may require you to rent a dedicated server. If you are unsure of whether your account may violate this policy, please contact us prior to subscribing.
Note: This was a special offer back in June 2005.

Unlimited is impossible unless your server has a special HD/TD that grows when you feed it ;o

So its not impossible ;)

A Server cant grow

Think about it this way:

Hyperthetically, You have 5 boxes. You put loads of stuff into the boxes untill their full, where are you going to put anything else? If you pile anything upon th boxes, they cant clos, meaning you loose everything out of th boxes.

In one box can fit 100 items. In the world, the number of items are unlimited, as they cant be made. They do not recire room to be made, as they are with you, and do not ned storage. As soon as you want to get rid of them, ie, sotre thm on the intrnt, there is limitd boxes to put them into. Th boxes cannot expand to accomodate the items without breaking, loosing all of your items.

I hope you are begining to understand ''/

Sure you can believe you have unlimited but once someone finds a way to use all those space/bandwidth, your site is done buddy :D Fastest way to lose space and bandwidth these days is, you guessed it,

P
O
R
N

Yes. Trust me, many people offer unlimited but they eventually get shut down cause they cant pay off what they promised to do. Some webhost dont even give out unlimited but, they give a high ammount like 4.4 terrabytes of bandwidth and such.

Dale

Well it wouldnt be me getting shut down, It would be Luicdnet for supplying the unlimited reseller, Although they assure me if it does run out they have solutions.

Well you can get unlimited, but I don't think any one is going to give you 100Tb storage etc. Best way to do that is a cluster of servers. Takes off the loads too.

DMB Layeredtech offer clusters, you should look into them.

The whole idea of an unlimited reseller is, that most hosts go on the fact that most resellers dont use more than 1Gb storage, and 10Gb bandwidth for instance.

Listen to me from years of experience.

Unlimited Servers dont exist BUT UNMONITED do this this were your disk space and bandwidth are not monited BUT you cant go over what the server has E.G if a server ha 80 gig hard drive and 1000 gig bandwidth you cant go past that.

*cough* And there's the Get-Out clause.

There is no such thing as an unlimited account. It's a hook hosts offer to get business. If you use too much, they will find an excuse to shut you down. Anyone who knows anything about hosts or the structure of name servers will tell you this.

Unmetered is another matter entirely and is possible due to bandwidth limits.

Nope, as I'm good friends with the owner of Luicidnet ( Danny ) I wont have to pay anything extra for any thing extra I need whatever it is. It's all in an aggreement weve done together.

Unlimited is possible, its just when a hosting company, exspands its server capasity to meat its needs, when one server fills, you buy another one, so as to never run out of space, a host dosnt just use one server, the more capaity it needs the more it gets. Its how places like rapidshare run etc "/

But it beeing cheep is another thing, And athogh its possible, im doubtful this place could relisticly provide it "/

Unmetered is possible as said above but not unlimited. Usually people who offerer unlimited normally get a lot of server problems:

Nice name - binary xD
