No? You should be changing your password atleast every week anyways. :s

And as Saurav stated. for account safety. :)

for starters. if HxF did get compremised they can only change passwords via the Admincp they don't show in admincp. ;)

mhm, i have mine in a passwords book. all of them for my Computer files. forums. Websites. emails.

It's hard when you have over 10+ diffrent passwords for habbox alone to remember. :p

25-01-2006, 04:45 PM
If habbox has such good secuirty why were we told to ignore some emails we got?

Steven.

If habbox has such good secuirty why were we told to ignore some emails we got?

It happens. all sites cant have 100 % security.

And i don't think that was a breach of a staff account. just immature hackers. ;)

I didnt say habbox has the best security or something
Hackers some how got access to the habboxforum mailing system and were able to send mass e-mails.

It has already been explained why you must change your password and what happened to make it so. So please don't go off topic and cause an arguement.

There is also a rule about warning others that they have broken rules. Anyway it is for safety precautions for hacker etc.

What? Baving was made admin on the 17th I think. He announcement is still in the announcements forum, that hasn't disapeared. His personal greeting thing (under his name) didn't change. So how come that has?

Also, Concentric isn't an admin anymore either.

Can we have admin come and clear this up for us?

Steven.
25-01-2006, 05:44 PM
For starters. you shouldn't be asking these questions so i doubt they will clear it up for you.

It's done for safety. :)

Why shouldn't I ask these questions?

The forum goes down, without any explanation as to why.
Then there is an announcement telling us to change our password. There hasn't been one of these before.
Baving and Concentric's admin powers have gone. I am quite sure that at least Concentric's wouldn't have been removed when they did the backup.
We have mods which keep telling us that "it is for our own safety", without telling us what the reason is.

Maybe it's just me being paranoid, but I don't really think this is normal behavior.

Okey then.

It's for security. yes. someone could of gained access to the daabase. but no one is too sure. (This is all i have Seen.)

The password thing is for safety. it also saves time going through the Usergroups making them change there password on login so they can post.

For all i know. Baving and Concentric didn't need their admin powers whilst the forum was down. so instead of causing more havvoc they removed their powers. that all i myself know. and proberlly all other users.

Thank you. That wasn't too hard was it. I suggest someone make an announcement in the announcements forum telling everyone what you just told me. Otherwise you might get more of these threads.

It may not be legit in whati have said. but it has been said it could of happened. their is no proof no evidance on this to happen. It would be hard. as they would of had of download that DB Table. and then upload it on another forum.

No one knows nor have proof.

Can we have admin come and clear this up for us?

We had some security problems (we aren't sure what happened) but it seems someone managed to access our accounts, we aren't exactly sure what they had access to, or how they gained access.

The reason we ask you all to change your passwords is because 1) You should be changing them anyway, 2) We don't know what the person had access to, so it's as a safety precaution as if your accounts was accessed which resulted in you banned I don't think you'd be right happy :p.

The reason most admins have been removed is due to the fact we aren't sure what security problems we have, therefore only the admins who rely on administrative features to do their job have kept administrator status, theres no point risking anything if we dont have to.

Hope that's cleared a few things up, we aren't hiding anything from anyone just we aren't exactly sure ourselves yet.
