Are Ipods really worth what they cost?

I don't think so, no.

Battery life is pathetic... I'd take my CD player any day of the week. = )

iPod Shuffle is cheapest, but that's rubbish, then the Nano, breaks too easy. I think the Mini is great [what I've got] but don't bother getting one unless you can afford the 20GB one or the 30GB video.

I think i will just stick with my CD player :P

The Shuffle is the cheapest, but also the most useless.
The Nano scratches easily and it's not very durable.
The iPod Video is awesome and so are the 4th-Gen Click-Wheel models which are still being sold in some places.

The battery life lasts you around 12-16 hours depending on how much time you spend switching in between songs. The majority of all new handheld devices need to access their data and that drains some energy. Battery life when watching videos could be way better, lol. It'll last through 3 hours of video-watching though.

I like mine, but don't like the fact it's not just simply USB plug and play. You have to upload the songs to itunes and all that. It's annoying if you're trying to do it in a couple of minutes.

You can just drag them, lol. That's what I do. It's a great time-saver.

Yeah, it would be so much easier to be able to treat it like a hard drive, then you could use it as a portable USB thing too.

My iPod video is ok. It scratches easily on the back that on the front. They are good value though. But doing videos are very annoying

Convert -> Put in folder -> Upload -> Open iTunes -> Get the file -> Drag to iPod.

Lol. You have yo be kidding me.

I've been using my 4th-Gen Click-Wheel iPod as a hard drive for about a year now. I do a lot of computer work at my school, ergo, I require a sort of storage in order to take my projects home to work on them.

How did I get it to work, you ask? Simple; you plug it in. When the iPod has been plugged into a computer, it will start to load the content of the hard drive and the iPod itself will be displayed in the "My Computer". To save things to the hard drive, you simple save the document or project at hand directly into the iPod. It's not rocket science, just simple logic on installation.

Ipods are only worth it if you can afford to buy one, and pending how much music you have.

No point buying a 30gig iPod if you have 3 gig of music.

I have around 12 gig on my current PC, but I've put Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Episodes of Red Dwarf and all kinds of films on mine.

The Mini was the best until it became a discontinued product.

Which you cant do as an ipod doesnt have any usb ports, inseted youd need the adapter, a few pointless wires to carry with you "/

it will start to load the content of the hard drive and the iPod itself will be displayed in the "My Computer". Althogh the ipod requires none defult drivers to use, meaning that as 90% of schools and collages dont allow software instlations of any form it would be unuseable to most people...

yes, saveing to a drive works more aless the same way what ever you shove in there...

Ipod nano is definatly not worth the money, one day at school my friend had just got one for christmas.
He had just put it on and as soon as he put it on the table it cracked and stopped working.
They do lose battery really quick but they do have some Cool features.

i dont like nano. i prefer mini, jsut the right size, and a nice battery life!

A major drawback of the nano though is that it's a scratch-magnet

Yeah, I have the Zen Micro, it does everything the mini does and more, for less money. My dad tried to get me to get a mini because he said it was better. When I got the micro, he knew it was better. He didnt say it, but I could tell by how he looked at it.

I dont ever find myself watching videos to be honest with you, I havent seen anyone actually watch them, but I know people have videos on it.

You can buy a retractable USB cable for the iPod for about $3-4, stick it anywhere in your bookbag, and be done with it. No point whining about extra wires.

You don't need any software that allows the computer to recognize an iPod. You just plug in the iPod and it is recognized by a computer with Windows XP Home or Pro edition, and Macs, of course. No extra software is needed.

I reiterate- it's not complicated.

I have a 30gb video, and I love it.
I did have an Ipod mini, but it just wasnt storing enough, I had it for a whole year and used it CONSTANTLY, the battery eventually stopped working after about 10 months, bought a new one for £7 and it works perfectly again.
Its not really worth buying one unless you listen to music all the time.
