I think that vbulletin is the most popular forum software about. It is completely customisable, full of great features, easy to install and there is excellent customer support.
Also there are lots of modifications at
www.vbulletin.org

Will your forum be popular ?
If you have about 50 - 100 members i would go with Invision free. Cause its easy to use and its free.
If your going to have a popular forum go with Vb and like Baving said there are loads of modification for it and the support is fantasic.

Hey,
I suggest saving yourself all the trouble of buying and create your own custom forum :)

I say buy one;) And the reason that you now have to pay me is due to the fact that they had to add taxes to it-
Like Adam said if you have less than -100 memebers there isn't no point buying one because its just a waste of money, if your site will be very popular you should buy it.
It's got loads of features that many other free or payed forums hasn't got.
And it has got support forums etc.

Hello.
I suggest starting out with a free forum until your site develops into something a bit bigger than 300+ members until you buy a vBulletin forum. There are a number of good free forums such as Invision Free found Here. (http://www.InvisionFree.com) and also PhpBB which is located in Fantastico which has some pretty nice MODs and Hacks. So looks into these options before you go and buy a dear vBulletin Forum.
Thanks

It's a good idea to buy how many members you have it doesn't matter
vb rules, if ur not tht popular go with ipb, but if ur popular buy vb, or if u like vb just buy it
