Hey! I'm the owner of BobbleFM.co.uk, and I would like to know what you think of the site out of 10, and why? Also tell me what sites are better, and why.
Cheers

The site itself is not bad, The load time is dreadful.
To be honest, it looks as though a 13 year old has just learnt the new <marquee> tag. I can see 4 on first look, I wouldn't like to count that around the whole website. After you have some years learning and designing, you also learn a few tips. One of which reflects your banner, All images should face towards the text as humans are visually attracted and will follow the image towards the text, which will make them want to read what the website has to say.
a human will look at a website, and in 0.5 seconds they will either close the window as it is off-putting or look at it as the housestyle of the design is good etc. My personal reaction would be to close the browser tab. Mozilla!
Overall website: 8 , Odd tweak here and there and you may be looking at a semi-successful habbo hotel fan site.

Good cc apart from the 13 year old bit, you shouldnt be predujiced about age
as many people who are good designers and coders are 13, including me, so rethink that next time craig.
Its a good site although the load time is a bit itchy :) the layout is ok but a bit to square for my liking but its ok.
its good but maybe you should promote it a bit more?
Get alot more better content that would like to let users come to your site,
because any good fansite has interesting content, im not talking about the habbo guides, thats boring, try use games and other stuff that would be cool, but as craig said it is quite good and succesful
8/10 keep up the good work

I only see 2 marquee's. Btw, Do you tihnk it would have any chance in becoming official?
There is ONLY two Marquees, like I said. I would like to know if you think it could become official, if not, what other sites have a better chance?

I would agree with all that, as I have already got a headache after looking at the page for 2 minutes (1 of those waiting for it to bloody load!)
It's a bit samey with every other Habbo Fansite, one feature I do like though is the 'Ring Us'. So yeah, I want something different.
Anyway, 7/10 - good try.
Edit - I counted 4 aswell
Its takes 3 seconds to load, all uneeded code was removed "/. Take a lot at the code yourself? See anything thats 'slowing' it down?

Sorry, I pressed submit twice.

As said above, the loading time is dreadful. I am also not too keen on the colours but they seem to mix well quite good. As Crag said, it does slightly off put the human brain which does lead to it being closed after a second or so.
I find the navigator quite unique, I know not of any other site that doesn't link back to the Index (if it does. I cannot see it or find it). I think you should centre all of the site because in my screen resolution it is to the left and slightly off putting.

I think there is a pretty low chance. Most Radio Sites have DJ Becs on it and the fact that there will probably be 3 Radios (this is because RadioHabbo.com has a high chance of getting in before you). 4 Radios would be just a bit pointless. The best fansites in that catagory should be picked, not a selection of Radios.
Overall: 7.5
PS. The chapel pop-up is extremely annoying, infact, most Javascript pop-ups are annoying, if not all "/

Nope :) Other sites are much better, no offense.

Becs is DJing on thursday at 7 PM and our index is the news. Look for BobbleFM News on the navi, that's the main page.

Images, Marquees. And 1 minute was an exaggeration, tis more like 30-40 seconds. But the first 10 seconds determines whether someone will stay on your site, and if they're looking at their loading bar when that 10 seconds is up, you're history mate.
LOL. The popup was the alert system, some stupid DJ sent one on coincedence you entered the site as the same time. I'll tell Beenz to stop this right now. Can you please show me what the code is that is slowing it down.
When you centre a template, its goes to the centre of the browser, no matter the size of the browser itself. If you position iframes (or use spacers), they will not follow the template when the browser is resized, therefore, I have problems centering it.

And before you all say use PHP Includes, with php includes you can't click a link and it opens in a certain area of the page, the whole page re loads. So if you can think of anything better then iframes, let me know.. Although I doubt there is.

PHP Includes are better than scrollbars.

How Then. "/ Sorry, you just edited your post and people will wonder why I said "How Then". Because he said "You Can" to ym question, "How do you make it so the whole page doesn't re load with a php include, or use anything different then iframes".
What... PHP Includes are better than scrollbars "/ This still dosen't solve the centering nor loading problem.

I don't think it is coding, I think it is the fact that most the site is compiled of images. These for example:
http://www.bobblefm.co.uk/v3/indexpage_r3_c6.gif
http://www.bobblefm.co.uk/v3/indexpage_r3_c1.gif
http://www.bobblefm.co.uk/v3/indexpage_r2_c2.gif
http://www.bobblefm.co.uk/v3/indexpage_r4_c1.gif
http://www.bobblefm.co.uk/v3/indexpage_r5_c6.gif
etc
They can be cut down into coding which will cut loading times in half.
Ok, how then? The template never used to be sliced, slicing it decreased its loading time, buts it still takes a looooooong time.

You don't need to slice it anymore. All you have to do is, for example, the bottom and top of each second e.g. the navigator is all you need. Then you find the hex code colour of the images and set it like that. Hard to explain really...

Sygon, It was stereotypically speaking. Lets say, A member such as Clear77.
Getting back onto the website design, I don't know how people only counted 2 marquees? Sample:
http://img459.imageshack.us/img459/914/marqueepointout3qg.gif
I account 4 marquees. Anyway, Like I said, A few tweaks and it will look twice as good as it is now. I think you have things sorted to an extent, but you need to touch up in certain areas. Preform an agenda, cover all the topics a normal meeting would, go into research on other leading fan sites and include things that are better than the other fan sites.
- Good work.

Double post sorry - Server lag -.-
Nick.
31-01-2006, 06:14 PM
Sorry everyone for double posts by anyone. This is because habbox forum's server has just fallen off the desk most probably. Back to topic. And I see what you mean about the marquee. Thanks Craigg.
Thank you Craigg for your help, I will go into this. Do you know how to solve my 'centrering' problem?
