As far as I know, there is no problem what so ever swimming with braces. I used to have braces when I was younger and I went swimming a few times (I think?).

If you are really concerned about this, I suggest you ask your orthadontist.

My friend has braces and went swimming a few days after and no trouble with them. Although i recommend you don't dive or jump in as if you hit your jaw hard against the water it could be very painful (especially the day after you have them)

Just take it easy when you swim and other active sports.
