Hey,

Last night I started coding a blog at first I was going to re-design a wordpress blog but then again I thought thats all you see in blogs now a wordpress re-design. I am not criticising Wordpress as I have used it many times and it's great but I wanted something original.

So I planned a CSS/XHTML web blog with a custom built CMS ( still in the making ) that would display the news. Also I would be looking into a tutorial management system to maintain my little list of web design and development tutorials I have written recently.

Anyway I don't want a mark on content as it's just lorum ispen at the moment I was just making the layout expand correctly. I will look into validating any wrong CSS or HTML but I would like a criticised review of it not just some 2 word post 'it's rubbish' or something like that.

Anyway the site is not near done but I want to know what you think so far.

Hmm, it's not bad. I like the banner, but in someway it's just abit "Habboish"
Would do nicely for a blog though, as they normally are simple layouts.

Actually it has one image being the banner. And it's nothing like a Habbo Fansite all websites have 'boxes' whether they be Tables or Divs...

You obviously havn't seen many websites other than fansites then.

There's two boxes...has no images on it, colors arn't of the basic habbo color scheme, and you think it's habboish?...right.

Anyway Dan it's pretty basic...a little too basic for my taste though and since the banner is pretty graphic intense i would think the layout should be made around that.
But that's just my opinion, it's not a bad layout though it's pretty good.

Hey,

Thanks there is actually four 'boxes ;)' and it's built around simplicity and I put the banner on with a 2 minute gradient job as it looks blank and tacky without a banner.

Anyway I hate seeing tech or advanced layouts for blogs and i'm going to get it reviewed on other sites for the coding and simplicity.

Anyway does anybody have any comments on the colours. Do they suit or should I change them? are the heights of navigation and footer ok?

Don't worry thats not the banner i've not designed a banner just yet *rants on photoshop skills* :rolleyes: Anyway it's going to be simple with maybe some little logo on or something nothing dead heavy on the eyes just a simple gradient with blended in logo.

It has no set height. It expands so will be as big as I need it to be :P
