View Full Version : Do you think prostitution should be leglised?
Opinions?
They're thinking about doing it legally for women who can't find 'work' to find safe clientel and don't face the risk of death/STD's and rapists.
Theres good and bad for this but what do you think?

Hey, the women get what they want, and the men get what they want, we're all happy. Anyways, it's their life. So I guess yes.

No.
Because theres a lot of risk involved, what if the guy she sleeps with drugs her/hurts her or gives her sexually transmitted diseases.
Also, so many young girls get into prostitution.
So I dont think it's right.

"Any client who wishes to involve himself with a woman that is of legal prostitution must have a clean GUM form which states his STD's and current sexual health".
Basicly, if they have STDs, they won't be sleeping with the girls.
It's all done professionally and is done where the person, if they need he;p can recieve help.
(So not in a back alley for instance where she could be killed/hurt or worse)

Intresting thread here Karl.
I'd suggest putting it as a debate but i'm not a debate moderator.
Anyhow; No it shouldn't, It would mean more crimes like sexual harassment. it could lead to more sexual infections, considering they cant spoe with AIDS and that already i think well, god knows what it would be like if it would happen. x_X

No, I think it would give men a skewed opinion on women in reality. I think it would cause too many problems.
Plus, this would make the women's work force worse.

It would still go on anyway no matter what the law states.
Most **********s are drug addicts, addictions make you desperate, so someone with a serious drug addiction probably wouldn't give a flying pig about what the law states.
Saying that, not all **********s are drug addicts, some are just naturally desperate, often with no money or home, so really the same situation occurs, it's cash in hand..
It's a viscious cycle, and probably won't end unless a proper crackdown is taken on it.
EDIT > Why is the topic censored? Any how, you understand what I'm saying.

Kinda a steriotypical view of it, not everyone does it becuse there desperate, dispite how the media may portray it, in legalised contarys it makes people a Good liveing, Its there body why should you get to say what they can and cannot do with it realy "/
The whole selling your body idea is kinda stupid as if you work at all your doing the same thing by standing behind a counter or sitting in an office, the prostute just uses it for sexual purpos and makes alot more money for the most parts "/

It might give a good pay, but I would never sell my body sexually, simply because no-one truly respects your efforts.
I know alot of women wouldn't choose prostitution for a preffered profession if they had other choices available, because there is more rewarding jobs.

I don't see why not - if there are less things that are illegal there'll be less crime, so it also means the country can show off.

Youved just listed all the risks of prostition NOT being legal, If it were legal and regulated, NONE of those problems would exist, It could be done safly, prostutes would be requred to have STD checks and use protection, they could function in groups adding securty and safty, they would be able to use police if someone attacked one of there staff or them like every one else.
You can just as much run in to an dangerioly insain person sitting behined a counter at a shop. if it were legalised there would be no added risk from it "/

If there is a demand for something then the product will be there, it's as simple as that.
I think it should be legalised because then the women are in less danger, if they don't like the look of someone then they won't have to do anything with him/her and they're safer.
Also, it would then be easier for these women to get regular health check ups.
Legalising would also help stop the *** trafficking industry because any woman who is a ********** out of their own will would be registered and obviously any woman who is forced into it can be saved. It would also stop underage girls from falling into the trap.
One of the reasons that the government won't legalise it is because it's difficult to tax, pretty sad if you ask me.

If it's going to be done so there is no chance of STI's or rape & the woman wants to do that then i guess it would be okay for it to be leglised.

- I have my own issues as to why I wouldn't want to seel my body, but you can go ahead and do so if you wish, lol.
Understandably, prostitution in wealthy countries where people have knowledge and understanding of the risks of unprotected ***, isn't absolutely fine, it still is dangerous, but how many things are 100% safe?
I think if regulation is affordable in certain area's it's fine, however, prostituion isn't always fine and dandy.
Prostitution goes on alot in places affected by poverty, so if some of these countries governments can't provide their citizens with clean water, then are they really going to be able to provide them with contaception and education on STI's, probably not.
I think an age limit or ban should be put on prostitution in some countries, as the prostitution of young girls or even children really sickens me, especially when women or men are kidnapped and forced into prostitution, which is basically ****. In these circumstances, an age limit isn't as effective as a ban I think.
Saying that, these people would only have to cross a border to legalize it, so is that really effective? Damn, it's a really hard question to answer.

Where not esabslihing laws in 3rd world contarys here. Where Talking about here.
Legalising prostituion, doesnt legalise Kidnapping, Child abuse or any other crimes, it simply gives a person rights to there own body, and the Right to choose what to do with it.
People who are forced in to it, would be doing it Whether its legal or not.
They with it unlega;l will be forced in to doing so in unsafe conditions.
If it were legal, they may still be forced in to it, but they would have an increase in safty from it.
So its a benifit even to them "/
The laws main diffence would be simply giveing people the right to choose. Its whats commonaly called freedom...

Just to correct myself, by mistake I wrote isn't, instead of is..
I think all **********s should carry a license, which must be applied for and only issued to them if they are free of STI's, or receive correct treatment.
Yes it may sound funny to have a prostitue ID, but it could prevent alot of forced prostitution, child or teen prostitution and of course the spreading of STI's.
