Photoshop help

Hey,

I'm new to photoshop, how do you blend in colours with eachother, i need it for a layout and i can't find the function :S

Any help + rep if you help.

Explain properly, do you mean gradient, or blending loike you do in sigs, if so i use feathering

Well i mean say if i have a black background a select a certain part of
the background then i can make it darker or lighter ect..

Do you know what i mean?

What i did was me being a noob at photoshop, created a blue layer then another full of different color brush strokes fuked around with the colors by press ctrl + u then pasted the render selected a bit with the marquee and went to select -> feather and chose about 30px theres a tutorial on blending on mickm.com
