Is it free? becuase in some places it says it is. Its in the cPanel so is it free?

Yep it is free , and also it is in some cpanel's =]

(Only the 1x's , 2x versions = cost)

This is great. But the one in cPanel is only v1.2 and it wont let me upgrade to 1.3 so i PM'ed Axel for a link to 1.3

Isnt ipb 1.x only free if you have it in cpanel. Just like the 2.0.4 trial its illegal to download it from anywhere now.

So you are allowed to use v1.2 and v1.3 For free if you dont have cPanel !?

You can use 1.2 with or without cpanel. But 1.3 needs a licence.

As long as you downloaded IPB 1.1,1.2 AND 1.3 from IPB website, you are free to use it but as the support desk said that there will be no support given, consider going to Invisionize to get the problem solved. (P.S. They are NOT IPB Staffs).

Dude IPB said we can download 1.2 and 1.3 from anywhere after they mis-understanding one of my emails, we got it sorted though.

distribute the Software
distribute individual copies of files, libraries, or other programming material in the Software package
distribute or modify proprietary graphics, HTML, or CSS packaged with the Software for use in Software applications other than Invision Power Board or web sites without written permission from IPS
modify the software to function in more than instance or location (URL, domain, subdomain, etc.) from a single set of source program files unless each location is separately licensed
That means no one is allowed to distribute the software.

Its different. V1.2 and V1.3 was distributed under an old and different lisence which is no longer on the website. I asked invision if we could download it and use it and they said yes as long as it was v1.2 or v1.3.
When V1.2 and V1.3 was released Invision was a free to download software company. And then they turned around and turned into a proper company...

You get it in Scripts library. Sometimes your host wont give you scripts library or will take some things out of it...

there is only the phpbb 1 in my scripts library i read its illegal on another forum but i rekon thats rong (illegal to have ipb on cpanel)

IPB 1.2 and 1.3 Was free thats why 1.2 is in cPanel. They also probably have some sort of lisence to spread V1.2 around with there cpanel.
