Who would you say is the greatest musican of all time? Who defines music for you? Who is the reason you love that type of music? Who is your music hero?

It would be good if you posted a picture as well of them.

For me it would be Freddy Mercruy, the god of rock. I think his is the most talented thing to come out of the music industry, him with his band Queen used to be the hottest thing around until in 1991 Freddy sadly died.

Favorite musician as a whole would probably be David Grohl. He played every instrument on the Foo Fighters first CD (No, not at the same time). Thats talent. Not to mention he's one of the best drummers ever. He's drummed for Queens Of The Stone Age, Nine Inch Nails, Tom Petty, Killing Joke, Tenacious D and more. Hes performed with some of the members of Queen, he's basically done it all.

I hate arguing what genres bands are. Because it doesnt matter. Just because they arent 'punk', that doesnt mean people will stop listening to them. Not to mention the fact that punk to some people is a good thing, and to some people a bad thing.

Agreed. He's good, but never a GREAT musician and thats what he was trying to tell everyone for years. I like nirvana as a band, not as 'legends'. Long story short, it could have been ANYONE to break through grunge.

Anyway, here are my favorite guitarests:

I dont think this person is the greatest musician ever, far from it.

But he has inspired me a lot in life, and I think his music is great. I watched the DVD and it showed a side to him and his band that shows theym real not all fake.

There are better singers and better, more friendly people, but this one person has inspired me

Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day Lead Singer)

Members:

Active: 1994 to the Present, with the release of their album, Meds

Albums:

Once More With Feeling*
Black Market Music
Sleeping With Ghosts
Without You Im Nothing
Placebo

DVD's:
SoulMates Never Die
Once More With Feeling*

* Are the ones I DONT have - In all, 2

Even thought their backgrounds are hetrosexual, you have to give them credit for their music and their Live Performances before becoming MainStream.

Placebo Live in France was an amazing concert - One of the best I've seen. They say many bands are they best live, but you never hear Placebo in there. They are, in my opinion, the greatest modern band to hear Live.
The lead singer, Brian Molko can even sing in French, and Protege Moi sounds amazing.

Here, you can find their Full Recording history, and their Discography:

I agree with alot of the people mentioned here coz they have done amazing and original things but anyone can powerchord.

I hate it when people say that if a band only does power chords then they arent talented or they arent good (mostly over-obsessive 70's and 80's junkheads). The whole thing in music is if you have a weak point in making something creative, all that means you have to use other strong points you have to make a good song.

I never knew a singer was a musician i always thought a musician was only somebody that played an instrument..

Oh, and he plays the harmonica if you demand an instrument.

I remember hearing harmonica in some black sabbath songs but I didn't know it was him playing it.

Basically started off the scene of "gangster rap". Rapping about everything real and political, getting the messege of what realy happens in American ghettos. Rapping about what happens every single day in Comtpon, California and repping his hood. Started off a great rapping group which lasted a great few years, getting warnings of local police departments and even the FBI. Has to be a real legend for black people in American ghettos and hoods.

Deffo, David Grohl Is AMAZING. Also, Can I Add That He Drummed For Nirvana :)

jeff mangum has been climbing higher and higher on my favorite musicians list for the past few weeks. he's an absolutely incredible songwritter. i'm probably one of the very few neutral milk hotel fans that deep down hopes he never releases another song again. it makes "in the aeroplane over the sea" all the more special and mysterious.
