Hey =]

Recently I've noticed that media, movies, videos, TV, is quite, homophobic?

I mean, people always use the phrase gay for something stupid.
Example:
"Jeez, my PC never works, it's gay!".
It's like, no, how can a PC be gay? And when you think about it, it is rather homophobic. Using the word gay to mean stupid.

Back to the media, say a program is on, "How clean is your house" they would always say, if they were helping a homo sexual couple they would say "Someone and Someone are a gay couple in the east of england". I mean, couple would be fine!

What are your views on this? And when I say How clean is your house I was using that program as a example, there is no reason I used that particular program.

I think america are more ok with homosexualtiy. They have a few gay sitcoms, i.e Will and Grace and Queer Eye I think is quite popular out there. Queer Eye UK wasn't that popular here.

Well yes the media is homophobic, thats because homosexuality is different and 'Scary' to them.
some people can't understand how someone can love someone else of the same se;x.
I think the UK is still backwards as far as homosexuality goes.
We haven't really taken it in..
i mean it's taken this long to allow gay couples to be married in the UK, Thats just stupid..

And i know, how can a computer be gay.. ;s
And how is being called gay an Insult.. i mean really ;s

But Yeh.. The Uk is backwards as far as homosexuality goes...

Urrmm, you may want to keep in mind the word "gay" doesnt actaly mean homosexual, that means only been attached by common useage, its actaly a slang term / insult realy, Gay means happy and its a steriotype built from it. So the very word gay is worse that it being applyed to a computer, even if that is just idiotic misuse "/

Immature Idiot.

I agree with you on that point Carl, buuuuuuuuut most people use the phrase "gay". It may be slang, but still, is there a need to use it. What's wrong with the word stupid, or even happy.

Yeah, it's meant to be light hearted and not taken seriously. It's so apparent in todays society for kids to come out with 'THATS SO GAY' my little brother certainly does it. I don't find it offensive tbh.

Your all taking it to heart, jesus. It's a word alright. If it's true whats the big deal and if it's not then just ignore them. Name calling is what small minded morons do. Moan about something useful. :eusa_danc

The media showing people calling each other gay or something is hardly a homophobic attitude. It portrays life. In real life, people call each other and things gay as an insult, not because (for the most part) they think being gay is a bad thing, just because it's something that most people pick up at very early ages (as soon as you start school usually). Yes, it might be immature, but who says everyone has to be mature all the time? My school chums and I insult each other on a regular basis, it's just what we do for a bit of fun, no-one gets hurt because we all know it's just jokes. If someone called me gay I wouldn't think that they actually assumed I was a homosexual, except for the chav in my art class that I touch up on occassion, but that's just funny.

I wouldn't say that someone saying "Omg that's gay" or anything like that is homophobia. It's just a phrase that's been used for a long time to describe bad things, or unpleasant things that people don't wish to happen.

Why, i don't know :P
