what is the best bit-rate for shoutcasts?

24kbps or the 1s higher?

The higher ones. They use more bandwidth and can be alot more expensive. Most fansites will use 24Kpbs because it is an alright quality, it is cheap so therefore they can get more listeners.

If you server has perl then install your own you can have like 10000 listeners even though you prbably wont get over 1000 of them..

If it does have perl than how do you install it!?!?!?!? Huh Huh Huh??? lol, But you would have to check with your host before installing it...
