Isn't a prefect someone who helps around the school? My sister was one and she had to organise after school stuff, and help at parent's evenings etc.

Okay erm. Put like,

I feel like I would make a good prefect because I want to be helpful towards younger students and feel it is my duty to help around the school in a way to show a thank-you for what the teachers have done for me, like teaching me. I am a responsible and sensible student, and would love to help.

Or something like that.
