i remember when i used to come to habbox to see if any rares have gone up in value or not, and if they did, there was a green arrow pointed upwards with the amount it went up, and vice versa if it went down (i think it was with a red arrow). what happened to this? is it coming back?

Hmm, I think that must have been ages ago, when I joined in August 2005, it wasn't like that. But I think it's not a bad idea. Maybe someone will tell you why it was removed in the first place?

You can still see what values have increased/decreased recently by the "Changes: ..." bullet point near the top of the rare values page, and you can also see when the value changed, so it's fundamentally the same as the arrow system.

thanks. it's not as clear as before, but it's still basically there.
does habbox have a rare value predictor? like predicting what rares are going to go up, and what ones are going to go down? like in the stock market

In answer to this point ~
We only predict stuff if it's pretty much re-assured by evidence off Habbo or past experiences. As jonny stated, mainly with seasonals; or sometimes re-released rares.

In answer to the original question ~
We're now running on a different script compared to that of before when you visited, this script doesn't include whether the rare has gone down or not.
But we do state it in the Top bullet pointed section, as Surname stated.

Thanks for the question. :)

:o That makes me sound like a bad coder. For the sake of my pride, I obviously thought of that feature when I was making the RV system and I made it and I had little images for up down or equals and it worked and was all perfect, but Sierk didn't want that feature coz of the reason that I mention below.

To answer the original original question, when Habbox used them icons for each rare it had too much influence on the values and they changed dramatically because Habbox had too much influence so one week a rare would be 1 CS, then next 4 CS. So the icons were removed. This is the same reason that the icons were not included in the RV system.

Smiddy - you probably should have asked permission before starting the increasing decreasing thing but it seems to be fine.

Sorry if you made out i was implying you were a Bad coder, i really wasn't!
But fair enough then.

And -Thinks back- I believe, and it's only a BELIEVE I did ask for permission. But i didn't recieve any criticism if I didn't.

I added that bit because I had LOADS of complaints regarding the fact that people didn't want to browse all the values to check. :)

you say that it had a dramatic influence on the values, but how would it be of an any different influence without the up, down, and equal markers?

Because without the markers people are still willing to trade for all the rares.

With the markers, if a rare was shown to be decreasing in value then
a. no one wanted it
b. people offered lower than the value for it
When they offered lower than the value the other Habbo would accept because they knew it was decreasing in value and were desperate. So within a few days the value is just decreasing rapidly.

The same happened with values which were increasing but in reverse
a. everyone wants it
b. people offered higher than the value for it
So the values shot up.

aren't those good things? if anything it makes it more like the stock market: there can be drastic changes, unpredictable changes, as well as predictable ones.

Nope, that's not good. As 8freak8 said, items with a green arrow will become in high demand and stay like that for ever, people think it'll go up so they offer a little more to be sure they get it, this way the RVR's see that people trade them for higher prices, so the price goes up on the page and the green arrow remains there, people see this again and think it will go up even more, this will repeat itself and some rares might become unafordable for some habbos, works the same vice versa.

We only want to report on how the values change, we dont want to actually make the values change just because we add a green or red arrow. But maybe we can try it again and see if it has less influence now.
