Really, what do people think is the real voice, or accent. There is the Canadian, American, British, Australian, Chinese, Indian, ect.

What is the 'normal' one?

Americans have the strongest accents on the planet compared to other accents.

English in the south is supposed to be the closest to 'cave man' (The direct sounds and wave function) but theres not enough theory to back this up.

How can you say you don't have an accent? Everyone has one, you hear yourself family, friends speak it everyday you can't tell the difference.

No idea what the Leicester accent is like, but when I wen't to Cornwall last year this family from Leeds thought we were Geordies.

Yeah, most people assume they don't have an accent. That everyone around them, they have the accents and you're just 'normal'. Well like you said, there is no normal because everyone else to everyone else, has an accent so it rules out 'normal'.

Edit: I've heard Miami, New york, maryland and arizona accents and they all sound 'americany' and all the same with that "Lyke omg" thing youn see on American TV programs... [Shudders].

Everyone has an accent.

Its like asking 'Whats the normal fingerprint?'. You dont think you have an accent because its all you've ever heard. Americans and Canadians do pronounce things funny, you just dont notice it.

The american one and canadian one are mostly the same, and I guess everyone thinks that they're accent is normal.

There is no "normal" accent. If you say, for example, American/Canadian accents are "normal", then it's like you're saying all other accents are "weird" and, well, "abnormal". That isn't fair, is it. ;)

Anyway, I have a malay accent only if I speak malay. You wouldn't know what it sounds like anyway. x_x

i would say briish, coz i am, but there are many different british accents, so i am lincolnshire and ithink brummies have a weird accent

Biseinen
10-05-2006, 10:04 AM
Mmm, yeah. people in the south think the north have a more 'common' accent with all that brummy talk and it does sound weird lol.

But to them, we sound 'weird' because of the way we don't speak like them.

An accent is and accent, there isn't really a normal accent, depends where you come from.

You can't really say a 'normal' accent because everyone's accents are different from different places.

What the hell do you define as a British accent?!!!!!!!

There are LOADS of British accents.

Leeds, Nottingham, Hull, Darby, York, Middlesborough, London (I'm sure there are different accents for different parts of London too!), Birmingham, Bournemouth, Cornwall, Essex, Aberdeen, Inverness, Glasgow, Edinburgh. I dunno the different ones in Wales or Ireland, and these are just a few of the ones the UK.

And in America you can really tell the difference between someone from lets say Texas and someone from LA.

There is no "normal" accent. :s You sound normal to yourself, you sound like an alien to someone with a different accent. x]
