I wore braces for three years, they aren't that bad, but it is very annoying to brush your teeth whith them.
Also food tends to get stuck in them.
But it dosen't hurt a bit when the Orthodontice puts them on.

For the first three days, they kill. Then after that, you get used to them, but they may hurt for a day after every tightening. Although braces may look ugly, they do the world of good in the future. Oh, and the most important thing is to keep brushing (well that's what my orthodontist says anyway ^_^)

Well I've got them
They don't actually hurt? And when they get tightened I can feel them a tiny bit? And they do look quite nice? And they're easy to clean? (For me anyway)
Either that, or I am immune to pain (Not very likely)

lol, the 2 things they are good for -
NOT eating [for about 2 weeks because of the constant pain]
Straightning teeth
They arent too nice for the 1st month in wearing them, they hurt as hell and they get in the way but after the initial 4 weeks they starts to get a little better
If you have the Wire replaced [known as tightened] they tend to hurt for the evening
Of course after you get them taken off [which is a great day, ive experienced it], you have to wear retainers each and every night,
WATCH OUT FOR THE DRIBBLE! :p

Right.. Braces. Ive had them for 1 Year now. Ive had 4 Different types of braces.
:- Butterfly
:- Twin blocks ( Invisble )
:- Twin blocks ( Visable )
:- Train tracks
I got my Train Tracks on Tuesday and it didnt hurt when they put them on. After it gets a bit achey. When you have your 1st brace it will hurt for like 3 days. But dont worry. Dont take the brace out because it hurts or because they look ugly. The Ortho can tell when you havnt worn it. If you dont wear your braces.. the longer you have the treatment. So WEAR THEM. Also your mouth will get kinda dry in the 1st day.. and you will feal weird when you eat. Have a soft diet for a day or 2 Until your teeth settle.
All I gotta say. Now just 1 more year or Train tracks. ;]

I hated my braces, but I'm grateful that I had them now. I had them for 2, almost 3 years and I wasn't happy about it, but my teeth are now much straighter. They aren't horrifically ugly, and you can still bite your nails (they recommend not eating hard/chewy stuff but balls to it, you can always get them fixed). They hurt for about a day, possibly two, after fitting and/or tightening, but bear with it, they're worth it in the end. Think about the future with this:
2 years of having a bit of metal that people aren't likely to care about, or the rest of your life with bad teeth?
Having it done now for free, with all appointments, fixings, tightenings etc. all free too, or paying anything from £400+ (into the thousands sometimes) later in life?
Also, if you have them later (and trust me, if you don't have them now you'll want them later when the look of your teeth affects you more) then you'll stick out like a sore thumb. Having them in school is normal, loads of kids do, but not many adults have braces, and you'll feel a lot worse then than you would now.
My advice: Have the braces, no doubt.
Lol, never had them but they dont look nice.

Dont go by looks, infact you would look worse when you're older with bad teeth
Might as well wear them for 2 years now, just like Jesus said

Same here. I'm not even sure if I am getting them, but my teeth are a bit crowded. The dentist said I might do when all my lickle baby teeth fall out because I have a lickle mouth.
I put the lickle mouth bit in myself ^^!

True. I had them for about 3 years, 3 years of hell :'(They make you look ugly and the pain is unrealistic!
I had 3 types, but the only one I can remember is the train tracks.
When you get them tightened, they hurt for about a day. When you get them fixed on, they hurt for about 3 days, 1 week the maximum ;)
Right now I'm in a crisis, because I'm supposed to be wearing my retainer, but I'm not :( Now my teeth are moving back to as they were before :(

Brushing your teeth doesn't make them straighter.

I manage it ;)
And pricetags, dont worry about it. Its hell for about a week after you get each one (removable - tracks) and for a couple of days after youve been to the orthodontist after they do them, but after that you dont notice them. The rmeovable one also gives you something to kill time in class. Flick it up and down with your tongue (although the orthodonist says dont do that under penalty of death). Just just accept them and know theyll be off soon.

I had them on for just about 7 months when I was about 12-13. They were fine for me. Hurt for about a week when I first had them on and then hurt again when I had them tightened. I wear the clear plastic retainer everynight and it doesn't bother me at all. For people that have had braces and had them took off, the first night you wear the clear plastic retainer, was it really painful for you? It certainly was for me.

My friend has them. He's on those removable things where it's just like a metal thing with a plastic things. When he had the stuck on ones he was always going on about how much it hurt when he had them tightened. So yahh... he's worrying me. And he lives on a diet of cheese sandwiches and crisps. Scary pls.

I was gonna get them but they were gonna use a retainer first and they moved into place before I was going for the braces, lucky me.

braces are a bit painful but you get used to them after a while. i got my train tracks iiiinn .. i think it was march this year, and my teeth are already nearly straight:D they do hurt after theyve been tightened and you PLENTY of ulcers, so stock up on your bonjela! make sure you use the dental wax your ortho may give you to stop the spiky bits from hurting so much. eating can be a bit of a problem so make sure you have lots of heinz tomattah sooup .. yummmmm :P
and make sure you get some sexy colours for the elastic thingys:8
