I seriously don't know why you idiots (the ones who say it) think this is an insult, also, I could understand why you call people one on Habbo because it's a game, but Habbox isn't.

A newbie (1337 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leet): n00b) is a newcomer (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/newcomer) to a particular field, the term being commonly used on the Internet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet), where it might refer to new, inexperienced, or ignorant users of a game (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game), a newsgroup (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newsgroup), an operating system (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operating_system) or the Internet itself. The term is generally regarded as an insult (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insult), although in many cases more experienced/knowledgeable people use it in purposes of negative reinforcement (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negative_reinforcement), urging “newbies” to learn more about the field or area in question. Newbie itself is usually considered truly to be a person who's new at these events and not really an insult as opposed to n00b.

It's funny to think Wikipedia defines so many things with pages and pages, and defines "noob" with a few lines.

Nice thread, noob:P

It's used as in insult aswell not just as it's proper meaning. Such as the word bítch is used as an insult but doesn't mean your a female dog.

Thanks for clearing up a well known and obvouis definition

And the word 'gay' is used as an insult or curse, as in "this printer is being gay", even though it isn't insulting.

COLOR="Black"]Usually anywhere in the internet in which one is considered a new member of a newcomer, so it makes sense- it need not only apply to games. Besides, Habbox is BASED on a game, Habbo respectively, and people whos terminology is derived from the Habbo envoronment bring these customs here.[/COLOR]

Not entiry correct, since the word gay became common term for homosexual, Calling a person gay was pretty much an attack on there sexualty, hence makeing it an insult as such, threw over use, ignorance and other stupidty and real meaning behind it admitly has been lost as its often applyed to inamate objects and even conepsts "/

Plus, i could have told ya that without the wiki lookup

also Urban dictaiony is more for laughs and obscure, definitions aint stricty true or correct "/
