No real myspace links, pics or anything not allowed. This is about coding. I also don't care whether you think the systems **** or not, I think its ****, but its still HUGE and thats what counts.
Ok, Myspace profiles by default look ****. But can be enhanced with css, and there are plenty of code generators to do this.
Although even these are VERY limited in capably.
So one of my recent little sub project has been to see if i can find a way to customise the look and feel of a myspace profile properly.
First off, The problems seem quite massive.
Very few of the parts have class's and you cant use id's to target since # is filtered.
You cant import, or load externally any css files ether. You also cant use javascript and use the dom, or do much except add code to certain places.
Of cause, you could just put a big div over it and start from scratch. The problem with this is, you loose dynamic content, comments, etc.
So far ive still had allot of trouble making any progress. My only success in mangeing to get everything in absoulty positioned layers, via use of some css3 conditional targeting code.
Thats all good for a decent bowser like firefox? But IE bairly suppors css1 never lown even minor support of css3 so the code pretty much does Zilch.
Has anyone else ever tryed to properly skin an account?
Has anyone else found any ways of getting the profile to work in a way you can control?
or not any way to get the blocks in to Layers with code that ie will support.
Since alot of the targeting method is using "table td td { " sort of coding to select it, which im still have trouble figuring out exactly whats going on?
Any help/comments/opinions?
Bag.
