If anyone would like to start a forum dedicated to young webdesigners please reply in the thread below.
I have a vbulletin license which we can use, if anyone could donate a domain that the group could decide on then it'd be great.

I will help out with skinning if you wish with another member, as I am dedicated to another project, and clients. I havn't modified a lot of VB's, but I do make them nice looking as far as stock is concerned. I have modified Lycan's forum, but Chris wanted it in that type of way, but I can also do a bit more of the look you want ;)
If you would like me to work for you, I would like another staff to help me out. Nevertheless, if you are interested - PM me, or email.

Wouldn't you need someone who actually knows what they're talking about for a Web Design/Development forum?

.Code do you understand the basics of Web Marketing? Advertising on MSN isn't the basics, you need to get indexed on search engines and get a good PR on Google etc.
SEO your site and get PPC advertising is the way to go as well as plenty of recipricol links and directory submissions.

Humm, well youd probaly want some forum mentors, (as in proper word not me) whom can actaly answer and help properly along side the normal communaty, esplay if your targeting a limited age group.
Personaly i dont think age has much baireing on webdesign, it makes little diffence wether your 14 to 40, on a pention or in primary school "/

Indeed, but saying the age doesn't effect the designs, but it will effect the forum in different ways, such as spamming and how they reply to posts. Also, with all of these "young" teens in so to speak, they may want to learn how to design/develop, there for there will be most posts in requests rather than actually discussing or competitions etc.
It has came to the point where everyone asks for things for free in such a tone that I do not accept to code things for free as of their behaviour on a forum. I have offered once or twice, but in the end I may of had to pull out, So if I were to become staff at the forum, I would simply be a forum developer, not a mentor.
I agree with carl, I have seen amazing stuff by 14 year olds over the past year, and I am not just talking about other websites, there is also mass improvment in design on this forum too. I can't remember the site exactly, but the 13 year old girl can do better than any top designer on this forum, and possibly beat a 40 year old as carl said.
No matter the age, so long as you have creativity and common sence, and some programs, you can become a designer. (There's no job so simple that it can't be done wrong!)

Keep in mind just becuse someones older doesnt mean there not equaly a noob to the subject? you can be 40 and computer illietarte, and 13 and a computer genius, Age doesnt realy effect that in my opinion "/

Yeah, I just read through that again and it came over biased. Never the less, I was trying to say, that the older you are, it doesn't mean that you are more experienced, but in turn, they could be.
I think I'm digging myself a bigger hole. ;)

Thats besides the point. This is a webdesigners skills forum, not a random forum. I bet you only know small parts of HTML and maybe echos in PHP? Oh and think there is something called "expanadble tables"
ANYWAY I have got that out my head.

This is a forum not a website, therfore you would need to know what you are talking about, for example do you think Sitepoint would be successful if MMJ and Nicky didn't know what they was talking about and didn't hire people who know what they're doing.
This will never be successful as he would hire his mates who think HTML is something that only geeks know.

But Dan, as you said, Site point has hired people in which know what they are doing, as they wanted to go somewhere with what they are creating, where as I'm sure this forum is wanting to go somewhere, but they dont want to attract the professional people, well thats the just I got off it. As the name actually comprehends that. But, if it were to be a professional forum, they can later hire people with a vast knowledge.
People may actually join the forum to pass on their skills and help others in what they do, but I can see your point Dan, and it is correct in terms, but I'm not quite sure how the owner/founder would like how the forum is advertised if so to speak.

Shut up - I'm a webdeveloper and have been selling sites and using sitepoint for quite some time now. I understand more than just html, the only reason I posted on habbox is because there are a lot of young thriving webdesigners who want to succeed.
