View Full Version : How does pH affect rate of the Catalse working?

What the title says.
Don't tell me to google thanks. Will give +REP for good detailed explanation. I'm just curious.
I think the pH has to be below 7 for ideal environment, that is cause enzymes (Catalase) work best at alkali - neutral pH. If it gets too acidic then the active site of the enzyme is denatured and will not function correctly

Urmm Hard question without knowing wether you mean a Biologcal Catalist or a metal catalist?
Diffent catalist have diffent prefered levels of asidity "/
Take many of the enzimes envolved in your digestion within your stomach they work best at high asidity, hence why they are there "/
Diffent enzimes can handle diffent envirments "/

though all enzymes are biological catalysts lol
yeh I know it's related to denaturing but WHY
somethinga bout bonds and stuff... I need good explanations :[
