Omg.... it can't be that good. £425 is a bit too much?

Shouldn't there be two different prices here?

If the Wii is 150 pounds like predicted that would be nearly 3 of them
to the PS3! rip off. 425 for a console is taking the pee.

Ahaha, no its not, blue lazer? Memory? Wireless?
I think its totally worth it.
If you don't like it, don't get it. I belive its fair price for it myself.

Memory and Wireless is also on Xbox 360, as for the blu-ray, yes that's good and all, more memory on the disks, but I think Sony did it just to make money, and for next-generation. Also Microsoft have made an add-on with HD-DVD, as I have read.
Although it isn't worth it, Sony still lose money, and they will with this because not as many people will buy it. I'm not looking forward to it but if I have a spare £415 I'll buy it ;)

That's highly expensive, and it will probably be reduced by christmas. I am waiting until it goes a bit cheaper.

Doesn't the Wii have a blue laser light?
Doesn't the Wii have a blue laser light?

I think the PS3's price is totally unjustified. In essence, the Xbox 360 can perform the exact same functions.

I think there price will be the downfall for them, its rediculous, I think the majority of people who are familliar with gaming etc will be lead away from the PS3 and onto the Wii and 360. Bit of a disappointment from Sony but i'll definately keep an eye on the PS3.

£300 or £350 would be reasonable.

I doubt this price is true... If you convert the US prices to GBP, it would be-
20 GB- 265.67 GBP
60 GB- 318.80 GBP
Obviously, they won't do these exact prices, but I assume it will be somewhere around there... maybe...
279.99 20 GB & 329.99 60 GB or something similar.

I don't see why people moan about the price anyway? You'd get a bog standard PC for £400 and for the price of the PS3 ( if it is going to be around £350-£430 ) i'd say thats pretty decent. People expect that because its a console it shouldn't cost no more than £300.

Fair point... Some people don't seem to understand that as the tech gets better, it IS going to cost more... Except the Sega CD :P Why I ever bought one of those I'll never know... $400 down the drain...

It's called BluRay, not blue lazer. It's a normal DVD drive that can read specialized discs with stronger pretection against illegal copying.
And no, its not worth it. Sony are using their Playstation fanbase as hamsters to see if the can get BluRay as the next medium for media. As for memory, all three consoles have it, not just PS3, and the low-end model isnt upgradeable. Wireless is on the Wii as well. Nothing special.
All I've seen is that you're trying to justify an overpriced console that is clearly not worth the price it claims.

Nope, the Sega CD-- It wasn't very well known, it was kind of like a... mmm... Primative PS.

We don't get the PS3 for the same price as the US because Europe gets the backside taxed out of it. Sony have confirmed the prices to be 499 and 599 euros, which is £340 and £410 respectively.

I don't think Europe is getting the low-end model either. I'll post my source if I find it again.

The price for the PS3 in Euros is the same as in USD? Hmmm.... Strange.

Consoles are (1) Always more expensive in this country (extra shipping costs, smaller market), (2) The US prices are in dollars and don't represent the TAX they have to pay (different in different states), and we will have to pay 17.5% VAT for our tax, so it's more pricey.

I'd rather the higher tier model tbh.

Yeah... I always have to buy the most expensive version of everything, I can never go with the minimum...

Well concidering Sony hasn't even releced the price of the PS3 then i don't know where the store is getting that from. The only thing sony has said is that it will range from 150 pounds *300 CAD* to 400 pounds *800 cad*
So thats all anyone knows for sure. For all we know it could be 200-300 pounds like the PS2 was when it first came out.
