If you want to progress in graphics designing you need photoshop.

dont work on linux :(

duh! photoshop is really not that good u know, okay so it has a few more features than the GIMP(which is free) but there isnt much difference

Actually thats no where near correct, most graphics design companies will probably ask for a Adobe Photoshop experience but it depends on if you are doing graphics for certain things. I haven't used Photoshop much as the price is high for the one program, I prefer Macromedia Fireworks and GIMP, but also open-source 3D programs. Don't stereotype graphics design with Photoshop
