You don't have to pay for copyright at all except for some countries, UK or US don't need to pay I don't think all you need is META tags with copyright and a copyright in the HTML source code which displays on your page.

Cant you copyright it to yourself. Because it's your own work and if you want no one to use content or anything you can put ©2005-2007 on their and if people use it without your permission you can sue them?
