Lmao some people are funny.

Of course there's more GTA coming; it's the biggest gaming franchise about. GTA: Vice City Stories is out in October on PSP (as well as the budget release of Liberty City Stories on PS2) and GTA: IV is out October 2007 for PS3 and 360.

It is coming out in the future, idiot.

Thats the point I was going to bring up. About alowing us to pre-order it. So that pretty much confirms the release of a new GTA. :)

Well. I googled Grand Theft Auto 4 and I found one of those 'Wikipedia' things.

On December 17 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/December_17) and December 21 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/December_21), 2003 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003), Take-Two Interactive (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Take-Two_Interactive) registered the trademarks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trademarks) GTA: Bogota and GTA: Tokyo.[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto_4#_note-2) This could be a hint as to the location of Grand Theft Auto IV, or possibly just a red herring (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_herring) to keep fans guessing as to the next locale.
Speculation has it that London (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London) is a likely city for the game's setting. This is because the locations that featured in the original Grand Theft Auto (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto_%28video_game%29) game were recycled in the GTA III (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GTA_III) series; Liberty City (GTA III (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GTA_III)), Vice City (GTA: Vice City (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto:_Vice_City)) and San Andreas (GTA: San Andreas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto:_San_Andreas)). The only city from the original era that hasn't made a next-generation appearance is London, which featured in two expansion packs to the original Grand Theft Auto game: GTA: London '69 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto:_London%2C_1969) and GTA: London '61 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto:_London%2C_1961).
Several European magazine articles have originally claimed that the next GTA would take place in either London (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London), Manchester (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manchester) or Mexico City (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexico_City).[citation needed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citing_sources)]
If the game does take place in London or any other European city in 1969, the theme is speculated to be about the Cold War. Grand Theft Auto III had a technological theme, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City had a theme of 80's fashions and trends.Release date(s)

It might work. Depends what time it's set in.

But the thing that makes me wonder is the Cold War thing.. Surely that's not true?

There were rumours of GTA: World, or something along those lines. Apparently they were going to recreate a number of real life cities (Paris, London, New York, Tokyo) and allow you to travel between them.

Sounds good. I think the most likely though is GTA: London, because in the "original" GTA series on PS1 there was 3 cities, Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas. Then there was an expansion which was GTA: London. We've already seen the first three so I think its likely they will re-create the GTA: London game.

I'm actually expecting an all new fictional place.

If it was going to be set in London, it would have been announced as GTA: London methinks. Plus, with stuff like the 7/7 bombings, I think it might be a bit too risque for Rockstar to give players the chance to blow the city up themselves (not to mention the fact that London in 3D has pretty much been done already in The Getaway).

I just have a feeling GTA: IV is something new.

Following the announcement during the Microsoft press conference, Rockstar Games issued a press release confirming that GTAIV would be hitting both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 simultaneously in the fall of 2007. The brief announcement specifically confirms that Scotland-based Rockstar North, creators of the previous GTA titles, will be developing the game.

Yeah, you may think, but if that was the case, Wouldn't GTA:III actually be called GTA: Liberty City, same with GTA 1 & 2. Plus, if I were the head of Rockstar and I had to name it, I wouldn't name it GTA: London because it gives it away, I'd rather have it as a surprise for me people who are going to buy it.

Although it has been done in the Getaway, Rockstar could make it any time, any year, so doesn't have to be the same year as the Getaway. Plus, like any GTA game, their has to be islands, so instead of islands, North, East, South & West London, instead.

Fair point, but I still don't think it will happen. Rockstar aren't that controversial - personally I don't think I'd be comfortable wreaking digital havok in my home city after what happened in July. Just like any New Yorker would probably feel uncomfortable if Rockstar were to release GTA: New York since the events of September 2001.

Sure, Liberty City is essentially New York in all but name, but that makes it acceptable. We could see a representation of London in the next GTA by all means, but I can't see it actually being London.
