What is alching?

First of all i know this is off topic. But i couldn't find a runescape board it'd fit with.

I've seen what it is and that it changes items into gold.
But what exacltly does it do and how do you do.
I tried looking on guides but they make no sense.
Help? :) Maybe REP?

its a spell what people use on items to turn them in to money and it also gives good magic XP

u can use any item to high alch

p.s. dont high alch snata or phathat or nothing lol
they high alch for 1gp

Its always good to alch things that alch for more than 300 gp. (the cost of the nature rune)

the best stuff to alch is bows e.g yew long or mage bows , good profit
