Apparently i heard a while ago that they are going to stop doing the Year 9 SAT's, i think that it is well unfair for the people who have already done them, they should leave it like it is then people won't complain. :D

I agree. I done my SAT's last year. SAT's are only to see how well the school is doing.

What are sats?

Like someone said, they are just to show how well the school is doing, they only make you worry about them so that they get a good reputation.

I am guessing that you live in Canada (maybe not). Yeah, we call it EQAO Testing rather than SAT's and have them in Grades (Not Years :)) 3,6,9, and 12.

SATs are ridiculous :P Just toi make the school looks good, doesn't actually mean anything about your education..

I was never made to worry about my SATs and that's the way it should be for everyone. If the government removes them it will make no difference - schools will still hold year 9 exams to put people in sets for their GCSEs. What needs to be done is for schools to ensure that they don't put too much pressure on children for SATs.

All exams are about league tables and I htink it is unfair to have different levels for people it should be one paper for all and the grades ranging from level 7 to 4 and for GCSE B to U and have a higher paper for people that get level 5 and above in SATs

SATS mean nothing for GCSE - I got a level 7 in maths. My latest test I got a C -.-

They may mean nothing for GCSE technically but they help decide the set you are in. So if you miss out on a grade you want and get put in a set that does a lower paper and you can't get your higher grade.

Yikes, Year 9 SATS... That was some 3 or 4 years ago I did them (I think - left high school last year)

They were easy peasy! If anyone is worrying about their year 9 SATS I suggest you stop it right now. There is nothing to worry about at all. Just do your best, pay attention in lesson and you'll be fine whatever score you get :)

Well actually you do have to worry about them a bit, well maths mostly because of the 3 papers. For example in your shcool there are 6 sets, set 1 being full of clever people set, 6 being full of dumb people. If you are in set 3 and for GCSE maths set 3 do intermediate and set 4 do foundation this means you can only get a D in GCSE. So if you are in set 3 when doing SAT's and don't do well and get moved down this means you can't get a C or above and most college course require you to get a C in and above in GCSE maths. Also in English and Science it helps if you do well in GCSE to get on higher paper.

I'm in year nine and i have my SATS in may! Wish we didnt have to do them but in my school, it determins which groups you go into for maths english and science. So hopefully it gets scrapped coz i get good grades on normal work then i do bad on tests!! :p

Don't worry about SATS

If you do rubbish, the worst thing that will happen is you'll go down a set, and besides, a month later, everyone will already have forgotten about what they got!

You do need to worry because it helps to decide what GCSE paper you do.
