Did you get kicked out of school?

That's disgusting, schools have no right to refuse admission because a person is under weight. The only was a person can be excused from school because of an issue like this is by liasing with a GP who believes there is a problem.

I would take this further, a headteacher can't say, "you can't come to this school because you weigh under a certain weight and skip meals". That is discrimination.

7 stones isnt that low is it?

I think i calculated it out to 97 pounds

If you were like 80 pounds it might be bad but 7 stones doesnt look too underweight?

Lads like to be bulky though, the usual weight aim for a boy is around 10 stones as it is a good amount of muscle mass to have.

Depends how tall you are, im technicaly slightly under waight, and im definatly not one you could accusse of skipping meals :D

Just surround yourself with food, crap foods best, whether your hungary or not, if you sitting next to biscuts of crisps they will disappear threwout the day, continus eating of small parts is far easyer then trying to force yourself to eat more than you feel comfabale with all at once, as all that will do is make you wana puke "/

Your GP is so rubbish , they waste time admitting you out of school when your the one that needs to be admitted.

yeah it depends on your age and height?

If you find out your BMI, that would be more helpful.

Well in his profile it says he's 15, but it still depends largely on your height.

Work out your BMI and post that if you want. It's pretty scandellous that they've kicked you outta school just 'cause you're underweight, they should be looking to help you not make things worse.

Try never to skip breakfast and if you can't eat food maybe try drinking special nutrition drinks that contain all the essential vitamins and nutrients to replace a meal? You can get them from most shops I think.

Removed because he can't complete a full days worth of school, not because he's underweight ;) Do what entor said, that seems like good advice.

True, but the entire pastoral system across britian is messed up. They don't try to look at the causes. Once they find out it's not drugs or abuse from the family, they're happy

Weird that they kicked you out, if they really had some concern about your health they should have talked to you or your parents not kicked you out of school, thats really dumb.

The Idiot's Guide To Gaining Weight...

- STOP posting threads such as this, ignore the fact that you're just slightly underweight and get on with normality;
- EAT food.

Follow that regime FOREVER and you'll never go thin again!

(Yes, I tell it VERY much how it is, it's a good job we don't all post about our problems on these forums...)

I don't see the problem that he was kicked out of school? I mean if he can't complete a week of school because he's too energyless/tired then whats the point in him going?

7 stone isn't that bad. I'm 17, and up until recently I weighed 7 stone. I'm 5ft 9". I've always been underweight, but my doctors have never shown any concern about it. I weigh 8.4 stone now.

If your school allowed you to have time off because of your health, I credit them. You can use the time to get the help you need, whether it's to do with gaining weight, or overcoming your depression. My 6th form college allowed me time off because I was diagnosed with M.E/CFS a few years back and had a bad remission before Christmas.

However, if they have refused you, then I do not credit them at all. They shouldn't disallow you the right to attend.

There's a difference between them allowing you to have time off, and refusing your attendance. Which situation are you in Tomo?

If you're allowed the time off, I suggest you take it and maybe speak to a teacher about your situation and come to some compramises about getting work sent home; and maybe say you'll attend when you're feeling up to it.

Good luck Tomo :)

I have M.E/CFS, I could barely complete a whole day of school when I was Tom's age.
There's more to school than just lessons, and work that benefit you as a person, for example the social aspect of attending.

I always tried to attend where possible for that fact, and the fact every hour you spend in school is an hour less you have to catch up at a later date.
