I am going to make a webdesign site, whatever people say!
This is what I've got so far. Its OK. Not great at the minute. I have loads and loads to add. I havnt even finished the background yet!
Going to bed so I thought I'd get some comments for tomorrow afternoon.
Please note, this is only about 40 minutes work. perfectly aligned, many subtle blending options, etc.

No people saying, 10/10 - I love it, or 0/10 Crap
I want proper critism and addice
Thanks

looks allright. i think it would look much better if you didnt turn the rose black. Also for an idea as a background, put a lace type texture that matches the rose.
very nice though

If your gona make a webdesign sites your gona need something more than a basic looking, badly designed peace like that "/
Design for functonaty, not just look, else despite how nice the graphics are, the site itself will be **** "/
At the moment it just looks like a more monotone version of the layout a million or so blogs are useing.
Branding is the key to busness, so logos are VERY important. My own look ****, but look at most succeful sites, Obvios branding "/ you could never miss the Google logo.
Alothogh according to the stats its in its very early stadges, so there may be some big improvments to come, But you ask for the criticisms by posting early "/ At the moment thats possibly one of the worst layouts youve done "/

the box on the left if thats a navagation the boxes are too big, also the lines on the boxes look to sharp. also where the rose is in the content box at the top and bottem pic there is a pixel error on the left. as the other guy said, it looks like a blog.

I hate it, no offence. :(
In my opinion, black and white layouts like yours look too plain. It would look better if you had the layout in black and white, but something in colour, like the flower or something, which stands out from the rest of the layout.

The colours make it look plain, maybe add something brighter? Give the text on the banner (and the "D") an outer glow of black. Or that rose colour.
I hope that helps a little, better than saying "7/10"... Good luck with it Joe.

Wow that is very nice.
1st - 6/10 WAY to basic and very Dull
2nd - 8/10 A big improvement looks lot more pro and also more appealing and colorfull. Not much to improve on
3rd - 10/10 Those minor changes you made makes it 10/10 for me, well done. Personally i cant really see anymore improvement.
I really like the design

I like it, but not in a web design perspective.
It's good, but I dont think it should be used for a web design site.

Describe what you would use. Colour schemes etc

The colour is nice, just looking plain, add something fresh, a fresh green.

Im not sure why i just like the affect of the 2nd one with the dark backround. It makes the layout stand out and look for bold.
But i do like the rest

Edited loads of Blending Options, added a few bits, remade the logo slightly, and edited a few more bits. This is the one I like the most

sweet, i woulda edited the first one, but it kept freezing wen i pressed edit...
The lace background like i sugested looks great! maybe try some different solf reds?
other than that it looks good, the edited black bg one with the other flower also looks nice, but i think the black background is to powerful for the white bars, it sorta hurts to look at for me, but that could just be how my monitor is caliberated :D
