Would you go out with a younger guy/girl? How many years either way?

I would say the most I would go either way would be 2 years.

I already created a thread about this:

However, since I closed mine I'll leave this open for a bit and see how things go. :]

At my age, its a bit pervy to go out with younger people.

Anything up to 3 years is fine.

Haha, she has to be younger than me, or same age. 1-4 years younger is okay.

Depends how much you like the person. But the guy I like atm is two years older than me, but you can never really control your feelings. But I would/am-gonna never date someone younger than me.

As was said throughout the thread made about this before, it depends on how old you are. It's more socially acceptable for older couples to have larger age gaps, no-one would worry about a 40 year-old being with a 45 year-old, but at younger ages that gap is quite a lot, and there's outcry when/if a 12 year-old dates a 17 year-old.

2 years older / 1 year younger.

well right now I probably wouldnt date much younger, but I think that when you're older age isn't really a big deal, unless of course you're like 90.

I meant while I'm still at school. I wouldn't mind when I'm older, like if I was 28 and he was 24.

My current boyfreind is 10 monthes younger, and I'm 14, and I never thought I would go with anyone younger, but this guy was just so sweet, funny, mature and gorgeous (and taller than me) that I agreed to go out with him, so I would never say never to any age, because it's how they act that's important and I have year 6 friends who are more mature than some of the year 10's in our shcool, but I would feel weird with someone more than about a year or so younger or older at the moment.

@K

I'd only go with some who's 1 year younger than me and someone who's 2 years older, as I'm only 15 at the mo, 16 in september.

Later in life though it wont matter to me, probably 10 years max though.

For me it also depends on birthdates sometimes.
lets say i was to be thirteen, and my girlfriend is 11, but if i was to turn 14, it would look like it was a 3 year difference even if it isn't.

Well to be honest about 2 years either side but generally I don't look at people's age and more their personality.

Girls have been stereotyped to go for older guys which is quite often the case where I live, all these hardcore cool boy racers who are like 20 going out with 15 year olds. But to be honest girls do date younger guys, my friend Kate in the year above has so I don't see what's so stereotyped about it:s I mean aslong as a girl likes who their going out with why does it matter if they are older than the boy? Atleast there are some girls like Kate out there who don't mind dating younger boys. Especially seeing as their are some complete immature idiots and -cough- in the year above.

Id say as you get older, the age difference matters less and less.

I wouldnt mind going out with an girl about 2-3 years because if you think about it when you get maried there will be about 3 years in between but I would also like to point out that I think the guy should be older than the girl.

My boyfriends nearly 17, and i'm 15 and we get along great. I'll add a little leahway and say somthing like.. 3/4 years?

Hey, if 14 year old dogs can "get it on" with 8 year old dogs, then why shouldn't we? :P Ok. Bad analagy...

Obviously this would only apply if the participants were over.. say.. 20ish?

a 14 year old and an 18 year old's just wrong. a 14 year old won't know what they really want, surely? I know i didn't at that age but i'd do anything for some older guy to say that he "Loved" me.

15-07-2006, 09:52 PM
I think it is totally dependent on what goes on...
I mean, two years would be what I believe to be right, but if anything goes on I think it's wrong...

I wouldn't want them too old or too young, I would go for someone around my age. Atm I wouldn't go out with someone, since I'm already in a relationship.

I wouldnt mind a youger girl for a change. Because I normally go out with girls older or same age as me, but I prefer being the more domenant person in the relationship anyhow :)

At my age going out with a younger guy might be a bit wrong as all the boys around my area act about 4 years younger than they actually are..

I don't see anything wrong with going out with an older boy as long as they're sensible and respect what you want to do.

Depends how old I am I guess.
I mean when Im like 18 I'd date people like older I wouldnt really mind but if I was like 14 (as I am now) I would date someone I'd say 1-2 years older but when Im like 18 perhaps someone more older than 1-2 years older than me.
But like at 14 I wouldnt date someone like younger than me thats just a bit pervy tbh. Like being 14 and dating like an 11 year old ew.

MsTanya
05-08-2006, 12:16 PM
i think that after callum, all my bf's will be older, like up to 5 years? tbh i dont think it matters much anymore, its all about how you look. between me and callum there was a 4 year age difference so everyone immediately thought that it wouldnt last, but yeah .. year and a half ;) i wouldnt go out with anyone younger likee .. to pervy
