Okay well I was doing my paper-round this morning and on the front of a newspaper there was an article about England being the most violent country in the world-

What do you think about this? Do you agree/disagree?

there's more stabbings and stuff there because there's more people lol.

Surely the most violent places would be places like Iraq and all that :s

Yep, England is pretty violent. Now, when you compare it to the United States, you think "War! That's violent!". But, it's actually reporting on violence for the citizens, not done onto other countries. :) England has a crime ra te almost 3 times bigger than other European countries and its citizens are most likely to become victims of burglary or assault. And while that happens in the Unites States as well, the situation is pretty much controlled better.

Actually not true. Iraq is actually quite a peacefull country.

And that is probably untrue, America, even I will admit, is the most violent country.

London isn't violent, I mean I live right in the middle of London and hardly nothing bad happens, the other week when the police came into our school (talking to us about stuff, lol) they said that London isn't violent theres no stabbing or murdering, but more stealing or grafiti, and thats it. I think London is a wicked city and I love it so much, couldn't be better.

It hasent been until recently that we have been seen is violent wish both Bush Senior and Jr. starting wars. But other than that, we havent started or gotten into many wars we didnt have to. We didnt even get into WW2 until we were attacked. As for the terrorists, it is true, there are terrorists in Iraq because we invaded them, but that isnt Americans being violent.

Exactly, the WMDs in Iraq were so high-tech they could avoid detection by satellites that can focus on any person at any time and even work out which finger that person is using to pick their nose. Obviously a reason to attack if the weapons hide themselves so well.

I already said that this war was unneeded. There were no weapons of mass destruction. I said we usually don't get into wars we dont need to, up until recently.

I think when they see a certain President they think you must all be like that:rolleyes:

When you think about it England may be violent, but alot of countries especially in the past have been incredibly more violent. Germany is an example of this but once you remove a leader, the country "calms down" as such and doesn't have such a moron running the country. Just like Iraq should be when all this fuss has died down now that Saddam is bye bye. I'd probably have to say America, I mean alot of people randomly carry guns for protection and it's allowed....I don't even think it's allowed in the UK. Guns over here are mainly carried for Hunting/by the police/armed forces but there has been some known shootings over here in the past few years, take Serena and Venus Williams' sister back in 03[I think it was] she was caught in a gang shooting. I believe, not 100% sure, that it happens quite frequent over America, gang shootings as a whole. These are often portrayed in the more 'ghetto' areas like the suburbs of the country.

So yeah I'd say America.

Most people here hate the president, I wish more people knew that. Most of the people who still support him are what I call "Backwash" (People who voted for him, who now don't want to vote against him because they dont want to flip flop. Or they don't want to admit they were wrong for voting for him in the first place)

The only state that carrying guns is allowed is Texas. Ive never seen someone just carry around a gun anywhere anyway. And there needs to be some sort of percentage system because we do have more violence, but we have more people. So it might even out more than you think.

The article was to point out violence for citizens, not wars. A citizen in the UK is 3 times more vulnerable to being a victim of assault or burglary.

Iraq is only violent because we are there. Before the war, they would be more peacefull than england, and more than half the world.

And like.. people in us are more violent than UK. UK is tiny, USA is like x10 the size of UK, theirs more violence over their than here. And USA goes into Iraq, but its kinda understandable since the twin towers so they were right to war againts afganistan or however its spelt. Even theirs violent. Not JUST wars. >.< So whatever...

No harm intended, just conversing. :)
Because the US is much larger, there is more law enforcement as a result. While the media in the UK may protray the United States and a violent, evil country (which is somewhat true) most of it is propaganda.

And UK is famous for its pickpockets, is it not?

Exactly. The US is much bigger, so you must multiply your violence by 10 in order for it to be a correct calculation.

The UK is 94,526 sq mi. The United States 3,718,711 sq mi. The United States is almost 40 times bigger than the UK. But also as I said before, because the US is bigger, there are 40 times more law enforcement establishments in the US, so it balances out.

And even if that were correct, that still wouldn't be accurate because of the different crime statistics in both countries.

Sometimes on TV there was some program this dude want to some place in I think it was Brazil, everyone had a Gun and was randomly shooting. The police had to close all the roads at night because the streets because the middle of Gun wars.

There are no countries where everyone is blowing things up. That would be a problem, don't you think? A few people might blow things up once and a while, but not everyone is armed with a bomb. They are at war, but if you go there, its not like someone just runs up and shoots you in the face--just because you're in Gaza.

Wars don't count in this anyway.

Yes, you would. Why does everyone think when you go in afganistan, its manditory that someone has to shoot you in the face? It is not that violent of a country. As a matter of fact, Im sure it's more peacful than england.
