View Full Version : My rant about reps. :]

I like it how you can't put stuff like ''+rep me if you like my post'' in your sig without getting a warning such as this;

''Edited by Nets (Super Moderator): Signature removed as it encourages pointless reputation.''

Keyword; pointless reputation.

You hear a lot like don't encourage pointless reps don't say I rep back don't say rep me and so forth as it is ''pointless reputation.'' Yet on this forum you can simple buy or be bought as much reputation as you wish. That clearly is pointless reputation which is basically the same thing but without the words... almost a dirty little secret. :]

So in theory Habbox is breaking its own rule. <3

It's still breaking the rules. :P

And Rawr bought rep isn't pointless...
You don't have anyone to rep back to.
So technically you're wrong. :)

So buying say 1000 reps isn't pointless? How can you even say that? Have you earned that rep from say... good alts, good threads, good posts or generally been a good member? Nope it’s just pointless rep.

Yeh Joe is correct with it saying ''not'' but this isn't about my sig I don't care about rep I’m just pointing it out. :]

If someone gives you pointless bad rep, most would ask for it to be removed, yet you want as much pointless good rep as possible? Would you ever ask for that to be removed? In rare cases I think you would say yes.

haha well said!
But in my opinion, users should not be able to buy rep. I think rep should be earnt!

Yeh I do see your point there Tom. Well it is a forum and I think the only way you should be able to get rep is through good post, threads etc.. and maybe VIP. Even if you have wasted [sorry] money on reps then it is still pointless as you haven't earnt the reps just bought them. Hence been pointless. :]

It's not pointless as the people buy the rep to get their rep power higher. That is a reason for buying it. Therefore not being pointless.

I think this thread should be closed as it is basicly a user just wanting to critisize something.

I think they should be given as competition prizes too, but it's not my decision to enforce stuff around this department.

I understand entirely where you are coming from though Matt.

Just for the record. No one can buy over 1000 reputation points. They don't sell to anyone who has over 1000 rep already.

Its not really pointless, as Habbox make money out of it. So thats pointless money? If you had some of that I bet you wouldn't be complaining. ;) People might want to buy it because they are less known and never get rep and just want to catch up with certain others, etc.

If you're trying to say that buying rep is pointless then VIP rep is also pointless aswell. :p

Well I suppose it isn't pointless.. but I still think it would be better if people earned their reputation..

But its their choice I suppose

Actually, from what I can remember, now there is no limit

There is now no limit to how much reputation you can buy. Please note you can only buy reputation if you are vip.

In real life you can buy reputation (Chelski manager Romanov anyone?), so why not on a forum? I win.
