Web sites are mainly built around and using Internet Languages. These internet Languages are often referred to as 'coding'. A few examples of these Languages are PHP, HTML, SHTML, DHTML, Javascript and CSS.
Each Language has its own abilitys and will allow you to do things which other Languages won't. I suggest you use google and do some study on these languages.
Many Web-Site designers spend a lot of their time progressing and improving their web sites.
Each site has its own Host. The host you migt have to pay for, an example of a free host is www.freewebs.com - this is a web site hosting service which many begginers will and do use.
It's experience that counts. So regardless of if you're new or old to the Internets world, you shouldn't get others to build your website for you and you should try and solve all your problems which you come up along the way and don't get others to get you a solution for you - otherwise you will never learn. Also, you should never get up.
SO, visit a free website hosting service such as www.freewebs.com and take it from there! The website pretty much explains how to set it up yourself. The last time I used this host was over a year ago.
You may be wondering how you can purchase what is called a domain - a web site URL which ends in a .com, .eu, .net, .co.uk, .us, .org etc. These domains cost money (about £6.00) and can be brougt from any reliable hosting websites. Use google and search for something along the lines of "cheep domains £".
Good luck!

A layout is the look and design of your website. Many people use an image editor to create their layout or get others to do it for them (I don't recommend you get others to do it for you, you'll never learn if you do!).
Once you have your layout you will need to use the Internet Languages to transfer the layout from your image editor onto your web sites host.
Many free website hosts will provide a wide variety of free layouts (www.freewebs.com for example) - I wouldn't worry about your own layout for the time being.

Making someone else do your work for you is a seriously bad start. You can't have your own web site and think of it as your own work, and if you don't bother yourself then you will never learn! awelsh please stop using names which no begginer would know about, and please stop trying to earn a fortune out of ruining the beggining of a future web site creator.

Coding isn't just slicing or putting together a layout. Any page with an Internet Language is referred to as 'coding'.

coding a layout is putting all the sliced images together on the index.php page
Halting
06-07-2006, 09:46 PM
No. You don't have to slice a layout to code a layout, there are many more and more often used ways of putting together a layout and it doesn't have to be a .php file and it doesn't have to be named index.
Slicing is different to coding- get it right.

no u get it rite slicing and code are different but u cant slice without coding it after unless you want 50 different images you have to code to bring all those image together to form a big picture

Hosting: use www.freewebs.com to begin with - it's where I begun.
Getting a radio: you shouldn't be learning this so soon, but type SHOUTcast into google if you really have to.
Domains: wait until your website has been created, then purchase a domain. type cheep domains £ into google
HTML Codes: use google and do some research and read some beginners tutorials. You have to have patience and please, for your benefit, don't let someone do all the HTML etc for you.

Slicing has nothing to do with Coding "/ You use an image editor like photoshop to choose your slices and then you export it under the file name you wish. You can then upload this and the images which will also be saved in the area you exporeted work. Sorry for double post...
(Forum Moderator name here) - please don't double post. It's against the forum rules. I know it is.

You dont need hosting.
Just play around with html files on your desk top. When you want to move to the web, Use your ISP's space, its free, has no ads, provides ftp.
It doesnt provide any advanced back end support but if your learning its not needed, and most isp hosting parts are usealy the perfect place to test and play aorund with html websites for beginners "/
