I just was going across last.fm and when I was looking at the song Used For Glue by Rival Schools, I was suprised that it was tagged with "q magazine - 1001 greatest tunes ever". I thought it was a mistake, but when I looked it up, its true. It was on their list at 614. I was suprised because there are only 5,077 fans of the song on last.fm (not much at all). Also, theyre a band that only had 1 CD and had no major hits.
Anyway, heres the link to the list (http://www.muzieklijstjes.nl/Q1001bestsongsENMarsh.htm):

Everyone's seen it.
Its extremely biased twards the 60's and 70's. The Beatles have as many songs on that list as 90's songs that made the list. I like this one because it's a slap in the face who can't handle anything new being considered greater than old stuff they like.
Also, these were voted on.

In the Q list, REM had 6 songs and blur had 2.
I was surprised not to see Song 2.

Its because the 60's and 70's had better music.

Its because the 60's and 70's had better music.
Ill put it this way:
For the most part, the list is a span of 50 years. That means that there should be about 10 songs for every year. The 90s- an entire decade- had only 24. Not nearly fair or unbiased.
They have an arguement for leaving stuff out this decade, but the 90's were better than everyone thinks.

Eugh what a disgusting list. There are much better songs than the best placed ones by Radiohead, Coldplay, Beatles, Eminem etc.
And U2 - One at number one? Honestly. It's a pretty good song, but not the best ever. And for Coldplay, how can Trouble be rated higher than Yellow, Politik, God Put A Smile Upon Your Face, In My Place to name a few. And how can Creep by Radiohead place higher than every song from OK Computer AND The Bends?!
89 Liberty X Just a little Thinking it over
96 50 Cent In da club Get rich or die tryin'
They were jokes, right?
At least the list has Club Tropicana on it :]

You havent said anything about music. You havent posted in What Are You Listening To, or said anything about what your music taste is (which Im sure is completely aweful and unoriginal). All youve done is tell other people that their taste is aweful and act like everything you think about music is a fact.

and where did I do that? seems to me like your the only one doing it ;)
I seriously dont see why your getting so defensive over ones music taste, but if it makes you feel better then the more power to ya

You said in the very begining the list is aweful, later you said thats because it leans twards recent years. You think IM being defencive?

and how is that critisizing peoples music taste? all I said was I didn't like the list. I never said a specific persons music taste was horrible- learn the difference.
You think IM being defencive?
dont be so naive ;)
