I recieved this email from habbo... im not sure if its a fake or... but it was from [email protected]

Dear Habbo,

You have been randomly selected to be one of the first fifty of the new Habbo Hotel V10 If you wish to take part in this we would be delighted to have you as a tester. Being a tester would allow access to other parts of the hotel that other Habbo’s cannot access. You will have access to V10 furniture and public rooms. As a special thank you for you testing V10 habbo will give you a set of V10 Laser Gates and a Silver Dragon Egg. To verify that you have accepted this opportunity, please add V10 to your mission and make your Habbo Hotel password ********.

Thanks,
Lost_Witness

How can you seriously have fallen for that prank?
Habbo have your name and pw in their db, how do you think you login?

Good to know you didnt get hacked, but seriously, think carefully before changing anything.

Mattx
07-07-2006, 09:18 PM
how did they know to send new email??

8Freak8
07-07-2006, 09:22 PM
It's a scam. You can easily send emails from any domain name. Someone could easily send an email from [email protected] without me knowing.

Is there a "Full headers" link in that email?

Neil
07-07-2006, 09:27 PM
It is fake, Habbo NEVER ask for passwords and you get fake emailers on MSN addons and bots websites sometimes, you can search them in google they are easy to find and if your friend does it they know your username and if they see V10 in your mission they will go on your account and steal everything, leave your pass as it is...

8Freak8
07-07-2006, 09:33 PM
On that page there should be a link saying "Show Full Headers".

Click it and it may show someone elses email address.

<$>
07-07-2006, 09:33 PM
It's easy to make your own email. Eg. <$>@Dollar.com.

You can do it on msn.com. No toughy. // https://accountservices.passport.net/reg.srf?sl=1&vv=400&lc=1033 << link might work. But thats how you make one.

Or you can follow this..

1) Go to msn.com
2) Click on "My Msn" on the side toolbar.
3) Now click, "Sign Up"
4) Then press, "Continue"
5) && You're done <3

It's worrying how many people in this thread were gullable enough to believe it, Habbo Staff never ask you to change your password, or shouldn't. And specially they don't say to change it to a certain thing!

SCAM

GommeInc
07-07-2006, 10:27 PM
You have to be pretty dumb to fall for that, no offence

Look at it, put V10 in your mission and change your pass to something. What would that do? Why? Ask these questions to yourself. I think some people who are stupid enough to be scammed don't bother doing something as simple as this (I have little sympathy for those who have been scammed). Also, why would they ask for testers?! Why the UK Hotel? How can you have 2 versions going at once?

EDIT:
As someone said, you can make @habbohotel.co.uk email addresses. Don't fall for these. If you remember back to Habbos.co.uk, some VIP idiot actually sent an email claiming they were the new Hotel Manager. The email they used was [email protected], but they didn't realise that their subject and name was something @ habbos .co .uk.

Also, I believe Habbo use the email address [email protected]. Why would they need a [email protected] when they nearly always use [email protected]? The only other exceptions are, for example, [email protected].

This is like some kind of detective TV show.

"So Frost... is the email real or not?"
"Hmmm, I'm not quite sure yet Bernard. Further investigation will give me the conclusion I want."
"Well that's good. But you do realise that it states on the Habbo website that Habbo will never email you asking for your password?"
"Yes, well..."
*Frost quickly knocks out Bernard*
"A silver dragon egg? Tempting..."
