Theres been alot of stuff in the news recently about whether Gay Marriage should be made legal.

Obviously, (or, most likely) by the time most of us guys are old enough, Gay Marriage will be more than legal, as Gay people are already very much accepted in our modern society.

I just wanna know if anybody here would like to get married to their partner and why?

I would, because my BF atm is so cool, and i love him to death. I know it's not going to happen, but i'd like to think there was a way to show to people that i was "taken" in the future. It's hard for me to explain because i get really argumentative about this kinda stuff. :P

Can we PLEASE try to leave all the "God hates ****" out of this? I'm sick of the big, white, maustache bearing, white towel wearing bloke.

No. Gay marriage is wrong... [Im gay btw.... so yeah..].
Marriage is about a man and a woman. It just doesn't make sense to two people of the same gender to get married [havn't explained what Im meaning to say very well... but meh ;P]

With yourself...

Personally, I'm a Catholic and therefore I have been brought up to believe by the Church that Marriage is the joining of a woman and a man who are in love, as one and that's basically the only way it should be.

However, in the same way - if God made all of us and everything about us, then why are some people gay and some arn't. If he made some of us specifically wanting us to be gay - then surely to men in love should have the right of becoming one aswell?

Lol personally I'm straight, but gay marriage doesn't bother me even though it's technically against my religion, I'm always open for my own personal beliefs mixed in with my religion, so basically I just think if men and woman who love each other could get married, why shouldn't there be same sex marriages?

well really, it isnt marriage anyway. its communial partnership or some tosh like that.

so technically it aint marriage.

so my opinion would b i would get joined with my partner as it is IDENTICAL to marriage, just isnt marriage. it is 2 couples joining together and commiting themselves to each other.

I agree with Steph really. Its not marriage, its the gay version of marriage, if you want to look at it that way... Because yeah, what Ant said, Marriage is to join a man & woman.

 I'm not keen on marriage even with straight couples, why do you need to sign a piece of paper to show love to someone?

If you break up while married, then you have to go through the whole divorce thing, and quite frankly, how many marriages last these days?

Maybe one day when some of you've been in proper love, you'll understand?

I'm not saying i've properly been in love, because i honestly don't think i have.

The Gay marriage thing is by law, exactly the same as a marriage. You both have to make commitments, you can share family bank accounts with your partner, you must be divorced before you marry again, etc

it is 2 couples joining together and commiting themselves to each other.

and Ant, i'm an athiest so i've got to ask the question: Why's Gay marriage wrong? Shouldn't me, you, ben, steph, and all the other gay people on the forum be able to offer the ones we love the right to our unconditional love and safety?

btw, you can't say "God hates ****" or "True that" :P

You need a frigging peice of paper to show how much you love each other.
Love is in a way about commitment. Not about a peice of paper which can be easily burnt!

You've obviously never been truly in love, have you?

It's the feeling that you get from knowing that you have fully commited yourself to ONE person, and promised that they will recieve 100% of your love and attention 100% of the time.

i dont look at it like that. i look at it as having a big event where you get lots of attention and presents and a good exscuse to dress as a fairy princess
:P

also its something you can celebrate anniversaries of too :) so more rpesents and attention :D

Religion is what being gay bad.
Marriage was invented by religion.

Religion fux0red up everything.
Before religion, homosexuality was undefinied, thus it was neither right nor wrong.
Eeveryone is human, so what stops you from loving someone, because they have a ***** too?
Ridiculus.

I think gay marriage should be legalized, but I don't think I would ever go through with it. I don't believe that gay couples should adopt, though.

And don't anyone get started with 'But the bible says that being gay is a sin!'
Fact: The bible wasn't written by God. It wasn't written by Jesus. It was written by a real human with real opinions and real prejudices.

Marriage means a different thing nowadays, it was originally formed so two people could have sex. Now it denotates a bond of love, therefore I think it's okay for two gay people to get married. The only reason gay marriage would be wrong, is if you still believe marriage is all about reproduction, which homosexuality contradicts.

Gays having a traditional marriage would defeat the purpose, so it's a no if that's what kind of marriage they mean.
