Hey all,

I'm working on getting my muscles big, and I have my biceps in good shape, but what would be best for getting my stomach in shape? It has a little fat on it (not too much but a little), so what would be the best exersise to do? (Don't say "eat less" because I don't eat many fatty foods anyway). It like stays there :p

So basicly what would be the best way to get a six pack?

+REP to anybody that tries to help.

Sit ups and crunches?

Wayne

Yeah, crunches are good. (Crunches are like sit ups, but you hang your legs over something to make your stomach reach higher) Maybe try 50 a day, and then increase them week by week or whatever suits you.

Crunch, Crunch, Crunch... Sit Up, Sit Up, Sit Up..!

Running can also help to get yourself washboard abs; this takes longer but is slightly less tiring and it exercises your whole body too :D

You must remember that doing crunches and sits up for hours on end until you're red in the face and about to faint will not burn the fat around them, you must first do some cardiovascular stomach exercises etc first before the crunches.

I'm 14, and I have a pack(Woo ;D).

I do crunches, leg lifts & medicine ball work.

Also, I make protein energy shake every now and again.

Ingredients
* 50g dried skimmed milk powder
* 500mls fresh milk
* Milkshake powder

Method
* Mix the dried skimmed milk powder into a smooth paste with 100mls of the milk.
* Put all the ingredients into a hand blender and blend until frothy.

Crunchs but hold the upright postion for 6 secounds each time. You can feel it working so much better than normal crunchs.

I do 200 crunches 1 day and 300 the next and so on and so on, and I tell you it works.

DaveTaylor

It is possible to do 200, I did that ages ago in the gym. You are able to do it if you do it really fast, and have a break after each 50 or 100 for about 1 minute, but it can injure your back just doing them for ages and ages without a break.

Trust me it's possible, I've only been doing it for almost 2 weeks, yet it hurts really bad, and I do have about 30 secs break ater 100.

Anyway on topic. If you want to get rid of the fat on your stomach, eat the proteins I listed above and do some crunches. Start with a few, slow to build muscle on the stomach, fast to burn fat. When you think you can do it well, increase the amount of crunches, but remember, stop when it hurts, and have a rest inbetween if you get hot/worn out. Finally, remember to drink water since you're losing sweat.

As Wayne did mention, water is needed, I now drink about 3 1.5 litre bottles a day :)

I only drink 1.5 a day.

Hey Wayne.

Before I went to bed yesterday, I did 60 (but only counted 50), I'm going to go for a run in half an hour, then aim for 60, then tonight I'll aim for 70, so it's going up 20 each day. I'll see how I go, and I'll put it up more after a while.

Thanks!

Sorry for double post can't edit!

Well, not too long ago I warmed up by punching the punchbag (it gets you warmed up after a few minutes if you punch like crazy) Then I counted 60 crunches, but I always do more because if I do one and stop for 20 seconds, I will go back to a number a little lower.

I then drank loads of water, and we're going shopping today, so I'll get some chicken, nuts, yoghurts, fish and weetabix (I like weetabix ;))

:D Tonight I'm aiming for 70 :)

Fish, steak & chicken, not the fatty chicken from like all those chicken shops, proper chicken.

Remember not to step up the exercise too fast. There is little need to rush; do not exceed what you are capable of as it defeats the object. Don't go up twenty a day, go up ten everytime that you feel you can and not before.

I felt like I could do a lot more, but I kept it as that. I may put it up, not down though, I felt okay with them :) +rep anyway for being helpful.

Great abs start in the kitchen, drink plenty of water and add a high protein meal into your day, maybe tuna? This is a really good aid for building muscle. Also do more cardio exercise if you have fat around your abdominal area as no amount of crunches/sit ups will shift it.

I've eaten two omlettes today, one at lunch another 10 minutes ago, I've eaten 8 yogurts, 2 or 3 apples and I've done over 180 crunches. Another 100 later.. =]

Wayne. Suggested the omelette, which I thought was a great idea. I haven't been snacking either. :)

Building up!

My biceps are not too bad, I can pick my mum up and she weighs 9.5 stone (I'm 9 stone) with no trouble. :)

But after working on my stomach, I'll start on biceps... ;)

My dad also said, when you get your muscles all pumped up with blood (when training), they get so full they rip and then when you rest, they grow, and when you train again, it fills them two with blood and they rip and make more.

So it'd be good before bed to do loads of weight training and stuff, so it hurt (good hurting), and then rest, ;) I'm going to try tonight, 200 or 300 crunches, and then possibly use my dads weights..

DO be aware eating to much high protein foods and not burning it off can cause it to be stored as fat.

I also think instead of concentrating on one type of muscle you start a program you do each night doing each muscle group.
