When I do my crunches (I think they are), I put my torso and bum on the floor, with my legs slanting on the side of the bed, and put my hand on my neck/head and push up with my stomach. If you put your legs under something it is easier because you dont have to control your legs. But with them left normally you have to keep em down.

(Can also be done by lifting your stomach up until it reaches your knees.)
